You've had quite a bit of success as a writer, producer, director and even an actor. What's on the table for you at this point?
Andrew: Right now, I go out on auditions in LA and am in the process of launching the feature version of my acclaimed short psychological thriller ‘Just One Drink’. I’m also planning to produce, direct and star in another short thriller I wrote called ‘The Doll’. The entertainment industry is a very competitive field and I try to keep myself as busy as possible as you never know where a project might lead.
Given your work on the web series Youthful Daze, have you ever thought about working on daytime?
Andrew: In fact, it’s been a long time dream of mine to be in a daytime show! A few months ago, I was up for a recurring role on ‘The Young and the Restless’ but unfortunately didn’t make the final cut. I haven’t lost hope though, and hope one day to be on a daytime show.
So which daytime show would you like to see him join? Which role would you love for him to play? Be sure to check out the video trailer below!
What show would you love to join and do you have a character in mind you would love to play?
Andrew: I’d love to join any daytime show, particularly ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ or ‘Days of Our Lives’. I absolutely love those shows and could definitely see myself on them! To be honest, I would love to be a love interest to any of the beautiful actresses on those shows! I also would love to play a villain as that is one of my strong suits as an actor.
What's on the horizon for Youthful Daze? The fans loved the show, will there be more?
Andrew: Bryan James, the creator of Youthful Daze, is definitely planning to shoot more in the near future! I have a lot of fun playing Sean Mercer on the show and look forward to returning.
Let's talk about your film JUST ONE DRINK, which you wrote, produced, directed and starred in. I hear you are in the process of turning that short film into a feature one, can you share more?
Andrew: JUST ONE DRINK is a short film that I had no idea would become such a success when I shot it. It premiered at the prestigious Chinese American Film Festival in Los Angeles and it then got an unprecedented 100% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. Ryan Pollard of Starburst Magazine in England stated that it ‘succeeds in putting a new spin on the revenge genre’, Staci Layne Wilson of Dread Central called me a ‘promising young director’ and Felix Vasquez of Cinema Crazed even stated that I have the ‘potential to create a cinematic masterpiece’. As you can imagine, I was flattered with what critics said about both me and the film. I then sold the film to Shorts International, the world’s leading short film distributor who distributed it in the U.S. and Europe as an editor’s pick on their TV channel. I spent a year writing a feature screenplay based on the short film and am currently pitching it to producers and investors.
Who are the stars, will there be different faces from the short in the feature film?
Andrew: The feature hasn’t been cast yet but there are a few actors and actresses I have in mind for the leading roles. For the lead role of Tamara Nolan, I would love to cast either January Jones, Emilia Clarke or Eva Green. For the role of Andrei Dzagoev, the former war criminal turned religion professor, I think Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen or Christopher Plummer would all give fantastic performances. I’d like to give the actors from the short cameos in the feature!
Tell me more about your daytime connections and was it hard for you doing Youthful Daze with so many established daytime figures?
Andrew: I got to meet and work with a lot of established daytime figures including Sean Kanan, Eden Riegel, Melissa Archer, Carolyn Hennesy, Guy Wilson and Sarah Brown. It actually wasn’t hard at all as they are all very professional and courteous actors. Sean Kanan, who I had grown up watching as the villain in the third Karate Kid film, is a particularly nice guy and a real pleasure to work with!
Any other gigs coming up whether acting, directing or producing?
Andrew: I’m currently in negotiations with a few projects as an actor but my main goal at the moment is to launch the JUST ONE DRINK feature. I’ve spent around three years of my life on that project, both as a short and feature and I’m hoping that my hard work will pay dividends!
