Welcome - Tell me a little bit more about your part in AfterBuzz Tv!
James: In Feb 2015 I came to AfterbuzzTV as a fill in host for the new Days of Our Lives Aftershow, Dishin Days. I was on about once a month. A couple of months in I pitched a General Hospital Aftershow, The GH Report. While I was in production with that, I started hosting other shows on the network, and joined Dishin Days full time. Now after some 400 hours of live TV, I host shows on all of their networks including the rest of the soap block ( Restless Wrap Up and Bold Breakdown)
How did the organization come about?
James: E!'s Maria Menounos and partner Producer Keven Undergaro started AfterbuzzTV about seven years ago. The concept was continuing the conversation after you watched your favorite TV shows. You would host your favorite TV show and talk about it, have guests from the show, meanwhile the public can go online and tune in and watch AND participate! We have a live chat roll that is up during the shows. You can talk to other fans, the hosts, the guests, very interactive. Its like you are sitting around with your friends watching TV. Today we do about 300 shows a week. And now we'e grown to five distinct networks.
What are some of your challenges running such an organization?
James: I just produce and showrun and host my shows.
How do you go about acquire guest stars for your shows - GH Report, Restless Wrap Up, Bold Breakdown?
James: It's a combination of ways. We work with the PR departments of the Shows! They are so supportive. One of my goals this year is to really strengthen the relationships with them. We want to help them promote, promote, promote. We are a direct line to their audience! Sometimes the fans or myself tweet actors! That works too!
Let's say I would love to be a guest on the show, how can that happen?
James: Just talk to ME! LOL I am the one who books guests for the soap block, except Dishin Days. Tony Moore and company run that show.
Have you ever visited the set of any of the daytime soap operas?
James: I've been to the set of other types of shows. I've even worked on TV shows. NEVER been to a soap set! Would love that!
Tell me more about your different soap block/soap shows?
James: So Sundays are our Soap Block. We have an aftershow for each of the soaps. We are safe and friendly and fun! Each show has its own distinct flavor! Dishin Days, GH Report, Restless Wrap Up and Bold Breakdown are each very different! Each shows has fun segments related to that show. We take phone calls from viewers. Its a fun time! Shout out to the hosts: Tony Moore, Mark J Freeman, Matthew Evan Paine, Lacretia Lyon, Frank Moran , Abbey Scott and myself! We work very hard to give you all things soap related. We also have a series called Spotlight On, where we spend an hour with certain actors, and soap web series. I've sat down with Eric Braeden TWICE!
Any upcoming soap guests that you can reveal now?
James: You are going to have to follow our Facebook pages to find out!
Where do you see AfterBuzz Tv in the years to come?
James: I can only answer for the Soap Block portion. Dishin Days is on 2 1/2 years, GH Report is headed towards 2 years, Restless Wrap Up and Bold Breakdown are now crossing the one year mark. I am so proud to have been on ALL FOUR shows! I am proud to have created 3/4 of the soap block. I LOVE soaps and this genre needs to continue and thrive. I'd like to see AfterbuzzTV become the PLACE for soaps and all soap related things. I want it to be a normal thing for people to think! I'd love for us to do soap specials, roundtable discussions and soap reunions! We love the soap community!
