Max Shippee is one of the newest additions to the cast of ‘The Young and the Restless' as he currently plays the role of Graham Bloodworth. He is now dubbed as the Silver Fox whose character is definitely more than meets the eye and we can't wait to learn all the gory details of his past. While we anticipate the big reveal of Graham and Dina's (Marla Adams) true connection, we at Soap Opera Intel (Soap Opera News) had a fun chat with Shippee who overall is a daytime newcomer. Although he may be new to daytime, he has a list of acting credits which include appearances on a number of primetime shows and we talked to him about all that and much more.
Just like many of us, Shippee believes there's more to Dina and Graham's relationship but he's yet to find out what that is. When we asked him about his character's real deal, he gushed about being on the show while highlighting that it is his first daytime gig. "It's great to be on Y&R! Thanks so much! Yes, this is my first daytime gig!! And it feels great to be a part of such a hardworking, professional, and fun group!!" he shared.
Did you know that he has a little fun and comedic side to him? Well yes, he does, he jokingly shared about his alter ego's true motives. "What's Graham's deal? I'm nothing more than a super helpful friend and confidant to Dina, of course! To quote myself, "I'm her advisor and protector in both business and personal matters." I suppose like anyone, he has a history, some of wish he's willing to share and some of which he'd rather not," Shippee related.
Initially, Shippee was hired to be on the show for a very short time, but as fans can see he's been around much longer and is still shooting upcoming scenes. "When I was first hired, they said it may be for only a few episodes of "Under-Five" lines, but that it was possible that it may grow to more," he said. And while that was the original plan, Shippee was happy to note that he is still filming, "I can say that I'm still shooting, so as of now, he (Graham) has a future! Let's just say that being closer and closer to characters like; Ashely (Eileen Davidson), Jack (Peter Bergman), and Dina means that he's getting closer to all the action... and he's not afraid to get in the game a bit."
Though he has not yet landed a contract with show he's rather happy to be a part of the cast. "I was, or course, very excited to know that we were getting to know Graham even better! We get to explore his role in Dina's life, and explore his place in Genoa City. I'm not on contract yet, though I'm loving my time on set, and find all the cast and crew to be amazing! Shout out to all of the producers, writers, directors, fellow cast mates, and all the other behind the scenes crew that work so hard for the show!"
Now that that's said and done - what's really going on with him and Dina - and, oh wait, Gloria (Judith Chapman) too? He believes that Dina and Graham have something more than what we are currently seeing, "I think there is, indeed, something more to their relationship, but I have yet to find out myself!! I suspect there is a rich and drama filled history there. Perfect soap opera material!" he shared on the topic further adding, "Gloria made quite an impression on Graham in the sauna, didn't she? I don't think a little flirtation will hurt anyone... do you?"
And, as aforementioned Shippee has a past with primetime gigs making appearances on shows such; Hot in Cleveland, Rosewood and Major Crimes, but for now his focused is solely on his ‘Y&R' character, Graham, "You've done your research! As of now, Graham is taking up most of my time... I still get to an audition or two here and there, but for the near future, you'll see my mug during the day!"
And, for the many fans who would love to know him better as an individual and what he does outside of the show. He fills us in highlighting, "In my off time, I run a gym, CrossFit 1440, and have found that it helps to both keep my fitness and sanity during slow times. I'm originally from Maine, but went to college in Oklahoma, and performed in Las Vegas for several years before heading out to Los Angeles. I've also spent a year in Taiwan where I both worked in acting/modeling and did my best to learn a bit of Mandarin... it's tough, but I try to keep at it! I'm a hugger. Generally, I try to choose gratitude over complaining, and humor over anger. And I LOVE that people are intrigued by my character! He's intriguing to me too!! Shameless self-promotion alert!! I'd also love it if anyone wanted to follow me over on Instagram and/or Twitter, "@makingmax" ... and of course, I have a FanPage on Facebook under "Max Shippee" as well!!"
He also shared a little side note for his fans: Thanks so much for the opportunity to share with all the awesome fans & daytime family! While the show is fun on its own, it's getting to connect with you all that makes it so much more so!
