It's no doubt that daytime fans, especially those of 'General Hospital' are happy to have Steve Burton back on daytime. But, Burton who played Dylan McAvoy on 'The Young and the Restless' told Soap Opera Digest the reason he left the CBS daytime drama.
While he may have gotten a lot of material and quickly became a fan favorite, it was a challenge for the actor after a while regarding commuting to the CBS Television Studios where the soap is filmed. The show's scheduling demands became a challenge for him.
Here's what Burton highlighted to SOD:
"With Y&R, they were very generous with the schedule when I first started. They were awesome to work around my schedule, which doesn’t happen often, so I was super-grateful, but production needs to tell a story and when you’re working around a guy, or you can’t work him a certain day, it becomes a thorn in the side of people.“That’s just the bottom line. It never got contentious or anything, and I flew back and forth pretty much every week for four years. I was just like, ‘Maybe it’s time. It’s time to be home for a little while.’ It was a great run, a great four years for me, but it was time."
Currently, Burton is portraying the role of Patient 6 on 'GH' and is apparently back with the ABC daytime drama for the unforeseeable so there's no telling just yet if Burton would consider a return to 'Y&R' in future. 'GH' airs weekdays on ABC be sure to tune in!
