Just the other day, Melissa Ordway who plays Abby Newman on ‘The Young and the Restless’ shared with fans that she was awaiting test results after doing some test at the hospital. Today, Ordway updated fans sharing that when her test results came back she found out that she was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes. For those who are not aware, Gestational diabetes is first diagnosed during pregnancy. Like type 1 and type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes causes blood sugar levels to become too high.
When you eat, your digestive system breaks down most of the food into a sugar called glucose. Glucose enters your bloodstream so your cells can use it as fuel. With the help of insulin (a hormone made by your pancreas), muscle, fat, and other cells absorb glucose from your blood.
Ordway who is expecting baby number 2 in January will now have to change her diet. All the best Mel!
