Matthew Atkinson who played the role of Austin Travers on 'The Young and the Restless' from 2014 until 2015 when the character was killed off, has been pretty busy since exiting the CBS daytime soap opera.
Since exiting the soap, Atkinson firstly played the role of Jason in the series "Young & Hungry" on September 16, 2015. He then played the role of Ben Reynolds in the 2016 movie, "Sisters of the Groom" which is directed by Bradford May and written by Jim Guzzo and Mary Pocrnic. Sisters of the Groom tells the story of a woman who tries to help her friend cater for a wedding but things don't go according to plan. Also in 2016, Atkinson played the role of Tommy in the 2016 short film titled "All In" which is written by Jason Mac and directed by Jonathan Slavin, "All In" focuses on a city girl who gets fired from her job, cheated on by her boyfriend and sent to a rance to figure things out.
Atkinson then made a guest appearance in the series "Characters" playing the role of Eddie Porter in 2016 before tackling the role of Jason in the 2017 movie "Inspired to Kill" written by Michael Feifer. "Inspired to Kill" follows a woman (Karissa Lee Staples) who begins to suspect that her older boyfriend (Antonio Sabato Jr.) a crime novelist, is getting rid of everyone who has wronged her in the past. Next, he made a guest appearance in the series "Powerless" in February of this year playing the role of Alex in the episode titled "Sinking Day".
Coming Up: Fans can catch Atkinson making a guest appearance on an episode of "NCIS: Los Angeles" tonight. Atkinson will play the role of Keith Stiger in the episode titled "Assets" which airs on CBS. Also, he has 2 upcoming movies; (1) "Everyone is Doing Great" in which he plays Scott. Everyone is Doing Great is directed by James Lafferty and written by Lafferty and Stephen Colleti and follows the story of Seth and Jeremy who enjoyed relative success from 'Eternal', a hit television vampire drama. 5 years after their show ended, they lean on each other as they struggle to reclaim their previous level of success and relevance, awkwardly navigating the perils of life and love amidst a humorously painful coming of age. (2) "Eruption: LA" in which he plays the lead role of Josh. Eruption: LA is written and directed by Sean Cain and tells the story of a struggling screenwriter named Josh Kendricks who finds himself the star of his own disaster movie when super volcanoes begin erupting all over Los Angeles. Now Josh along with wacko-scientist-turned-novelist Quinn Irwin and Hollywood diva Kat Rivers must band together to get Quinn's research to the mayor and save the city before to blows in one final eruption.
