Oh, what a beautiful blast from the past. Rebecca Budig and former co-star Cameron Mathison reconnected recently. It's no secret that they were the Greenlee and Ryan of a particular soap opera era that still resonates well with daytime viewers. It's an era that fans will never forget, the good old days of 'All My Children'.
As viewers may remember after a successful run as Michelle Bauer Santos on 'Guiding Light', Budig stepped in and originated the role of Greenlee Smythe on AMC back in 1999. At the time of her joining the now defunct ABC daytime drama, Mathison was already a part of the cast playing the role of Ryan Lavery since 1997. Both actors had an on and off journey on the show remaining there until the show's end on ABC in 2011.
As viewers would also remember, despite being paired with other characters, Greenlee and Ryan were probably one of the show's most popular pairings amongst the younger set. They had this palpable chemistry that viewers wouldn't mind seeing revisited on today's soap opera especially on 'General Hospital' where Budig had a recent fantastic run as Hayden Barnes. Viewers would love to see Budig back on the show and probably placed into a heated love triangle with Mathison cast as her husband vying for her love against Michael Easton's Dr. Hamilton Finn. There's an amazing throwback video of their time on AMC, check it out below!
