The Young and the Restless has embraced a new storyline and is approaching the topic of Domestic Violence to educate and bring awareness to the ugly act. Unfortunately, not all fans are happy with the show choosing to bring light to such a drastic situation. In fact, one Twitter user questioned, "How's it gonna help exactly. And I mean no offense when I ask this. But DV has been going on for decades and putting on soap isn't going to make it stop. Especially ruining a fan favorite to do so. And I've already seen Victoria haters saying she deserved what she got." Melody Thomas Scott who plays Amelia Heinle's (Victoria) on-screen mother responded letting fans know how terrible and impactful domestic violence can be if awareness is not brought to the forefront. "This is absolutely ridiculous. Hardly worth a response.Clearly, I assumed that the level of insight expressed in this forum was a lot higher than some opinions would indicate. Hope your logic & empathy will improve with time. How many will have died by then?" she shared. It is indeed a dreadful thing as many have spent years in abusive relationships that either ended with one partner dead or amputated in some form. Thumbs up to the entire cast of the CBS daytime drama for investing in awareness of domestic violence, maybe now there will be a significant drop in the statistics relating to those affected by domestic violence.
