Jennifer Bassey is an Emmy Award-nominated actress who is best known for her role as Marion Colby Chandler on 'All My Children'. She also briefly played the role of Lisa Grimaldi on 'As the World Turns' and most recently played the role of Quinn Danvers on 'General Hospital'. Daytime viewers love her and it was so much fun when we caught up with her to discuss a few things. Her most recent work was her guest arc on 'Anacostia' where she played Beverly Newman. Soap Opera News spoke with Bassey about her time on the show, if Quinn will return to 'GH', her upcoming wedding and more.
When we brought up the subject of her recent nomination at the Indie Series Awards for her guest role on 'Anacostia', she gushed about how she felt. "OMG! I was thrilled. Anthony Anderson wrote me an award-winning script. What an amazingly talented man he is," she shared. She also went on to mention her plans to attend this year's Daytime Emmy Awards scheduled to be held in April. "I sure hope to [attend]. Hopefully, Anacostia will get multiple nominations and the whole wonderful cast will be there. They are a terrific group of people," she noted.
We then drifted in conversation about her recent daytime return. As we complemented her on her outstanding job with role she gushed, "Thank you for the compliment on Quinn." She later added, "I LOVED playing her and had a great time catching up with old friends, Rebecca Budig (ex-Hayden) and Finola Huges (Anna) and made a few new ones. Michelle Stafford (Nina) is my new favorite friend. I have no idea who will win [An Emmy] but I wish them everything good [An Emmy]." In regards to a return as Quinn, Bassey revealed, "I haven't heard a word one way or the other about Quinn returning to GH," but she didn't rule out a return as she went on further to say, "Fingers crossed!! She could cause some trouble in Port Charles. That's for sure."
'All My Children' and 'One Life to Live' seems like a never-ending subject in regards to a reboot. The fans are working assiduously to command those with the rights to revive the shows by any means possible and Bassey is also in favor of a reboot. "I hope AMC and One Life to Live will be coming back," she noted. And, would she return to her former soap stomping grounds if the show was to get a 3.0? "Without the late GREAT David Canary, (ex-Adam/Stuart) it's really hard to think about what Marian would do. Of course, I, have a daughter and a granddaughter on the show and there will always be someone for her to sleep with. That's a GIVEN," she shared.
Bassey later talked about the wedding plans. Of course, fans know that she got engaged to George Bamford in Waikiki, Hawaii in November 2016. Bassey revealed that the wedding will happen, "Probably sometime this year," and will keep us posted. And, what's on the horizon for her? Bassey highlight that "Marilyn Maye, (the great nightclub performer has directed and arranged an entire cabaret show for me and hopefully I'll be doing it sometime this year at 54. Also, I'll be returning to Anacostia to work with Martha Byrne and Elizabeth Hubbard which I'm very EXCITED about."
So, fans would you love to her return as Quinn on 'GH' for a bigger story arc?
