A number of viewers of 'The Young and the Restless' were hopeful that after Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) had rushed in to save her daughter by hitting J.T (Thad Luckinbill) from behind, that he would survive. Unfortunately, that's not the case and a new EW article confirms the character's ugly fate. Mal Young, the show's Executive Producer, and Head Writer tells EW that the show was invested in focusing on this important issue for a great cause.
Young also previewed, “The next arc of the story focuses on the consequences of J.T.’s death and brings together four characters — Nikki, Phyllis, Sharon, and Victoria — with strained relationships to become unlikely allies. This alliance is equally as dangerous as the secret they are keeping because they are only as strong as each other. Their secret will be in jeopardy when someone in the group is overcome with guilt and begins to crack.”
In regard to Luckinbill's exit Young went further to highlight, "It’s hard to say goodbye. We thank him for the outstanding work he did with this powerful storyline.” Y&R airs weekday on CBS, be sure to tune in to see how it all plays out!
