With almost four decades under his belt as the famous Abe Carver on 'Days of Our Lives', James Reynolds could win his first-ever Daytime Emmy Award this year at the ceremony to be held on April 29, 2018. Reynolds who began playing the role of Abe in 1981, he remained with the show on a contract basis with only 2 shorts breaks on his record. Currently, he is the longest running black actor in soap history so if he winds he would make history not only for black actors but also for his outstanding show.
Reynolds has earned a couple nominations in the past; in 1991 he was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor for his role on 'Generations', he has then nominated again this time in the category of Oustanding Supporting actor in 2004 and 2017. Now for the first time in his 'Days' career, he's nominated in the lead category and has a strong chance of winning. He's practically long overdue an award win. This would be a big break for the NBC daytime drama since they haven't won an award in that category since 1975. He would also become the third black actor to win the award in more than 30 years as the last award went to Darnell Williams (Jessie Hubbard, All My Children) in 1985. So, will Reynolds win his first Daytime Emmy Award and earn his long overdue recognition for his outstanding job on the NBC daytime drama?
