Today is a very special day in the history of Doug Davidson's acting career. On this day in soap history, Davidson began his journey as Paul Williams on 'The Young and the Restless'. Paul was originally introduced on-screen on May 23, 1978. He was introduced as a "bad boy" who had a romance with Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) giving her STD. Their relationship later ended but the two remained good friends over the years. It was one later that Bell gave the character a proper backstory, surname, and family. which includes his unstable sister, Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk). After his marriage to April Stevens (ex-Cynthia Eilbacher) failed, his story focus shifted as Paul's career was highlighted as a private investigator. Paul was later married to Lauren (Tracey E. Bregman), Isabella Brana (ex-Eva Longoria) and Christine (Lauralee Bell). Paul's number of unsuccessful romances with women continued as he got involved with Cindy Lake (ex-DeAnna Robins) and Cassandra Rawlins (ex-Nina Aversen). He was involved heavily in several other storylines as he worked as Genoa City's private investigator and now the Chief of Police. Davidson has been recognized for his hard work on the CBS daytime soap earning 5 Daytime Emmy Award nominations, walking away the winner of Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2013.
