The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin has passed away. According to reports, Franklin died at the age of 76 on Thursday morning after a fight with pancreatic cancer. Franklin reigned at the top of the Pop and R&B charts in the late 60's and early 70's and has released numerous top charted albums. Her career originally began as a child gospel singer at New Bethel Baptist Church in Detroit where her father was a minister. It was at the age of 18 that she embarked on a secular career and gained much success that has made her a household name to date. Her legacy will continue to live on as it has impacted many across the world. It's quite ironic that Aretha and Elvis Presley passed away on the same day 41 years apart. We extend our sympathies to her family. May her soul rest in peace!
