Days of Our Lives celebrate 53 years. Read more here--->>>
"Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of Our Lives." For half of a century, those words have introduced and underscored one of daytime drama's rare mainstays.
Set in the town of Salem, Days of Our Lives, a long-running NBC daytime soap opera follows the triumphs and tragedies of the Horton, Brady, DiMera families and more. Love and family stories intertwine with more suspenseful yarns, ratcheting up the drama quotient. Love triangles, murder, amnesia, rape, divorce, and other staples of the afternoon soap opera abound.
Days first premiered as a half-hour drama on November 8, 1965, and expanded to an hour 10 years later.
The show has garnered over 40 Daytime Emmy Awards, including 2015's and 2018's Outstanding Daytime Drama, and numerous nominations, as well as multiple People's Choice Awards, GLAAD Media Awards, and Prism Awards. The show airs nationally on NBC in the United States and in several other countries. The show's success derives from its consistent commitment to excellence in writing and storytelling - supported by a diverse ensemble of performers who have come and gone over the years.
The show remains one of the most popular daytime sudsers today. It is often referred to recognizing some of its most popular supercouples including; Alice and Tom, Caroline and Shawn, Bo and Hope, Steve and Kayla, John and Marlena, Jack and Jennifer, Abe and Lexie, EJ and Sami and more.
