Sarah Horton has made her way back home to Salem. Sarah is the biological daughter of Maggie Horton and Mickey Horton is the only father she has ever known.
Sarah was conceived through artificial insemination when Maggie agreed to be a surrogate for an anonymous donor. But when Sarah was born Maggie wanted to keep the baby. Evan Whyland then came forward as the biological father to lay claim to the baby. When it was discovered that Evan's wife was dead, Maggie and Mickey were granted custody. Shortly thereafter, Evan and Maggie were involved in a car crash. Maggie survived but Evan didn't. Maggie and Mickey raised Sarah.
Sarah's childhood was no picnic. She was run over by a drunken Eve Donovan. And Sarah walked in on Maggie having sex with someone other than her father (walking in on your parents having sex is traumatizing enough.) And to make matters worse she found out that that man, Dr. Neil Curtis, was actually her biological father. Dr. Curtis had performed Maggie's artificial insemination. All that would be too much for anyone to handle. It's no wonder Sarah bailed and moved to Nashville to be with her adoptive sister, Melissa.
Last week Sarah appeared on Maggie's doorstep. Sarah's name had been dropped during Nicole Walker's last arc. Nicole was living in Sarah's apartment in Nashville while Sarah was working with Doctor's Without Borders.
Sarah was back and with big news. She was engaged! She was engaged to Rex Brady, Roman Brady and Kate Robert's son. Sarah and Rex met while working for Doctor's Without Borders, fell in love and became engaged. Sarah was glowing as any woman would who was looking forward to the future with the man she loved. Rex had popped up in Salem a day or two earlier. Maggie put together an engagement party in record speed to celebrate the happy couple.
In the meantime, Chloe Lane had put two and two together and figured out something was amiss and correctly surmised "Baby Bonnie" was Mimi Lockhart's daughter and not Bonnie Lockhart's. Sleuth Chloe swiped Mimi's water bottle out the trash and sprinted to the hospital to have a DNA test done.
Then Chloe crashed the engagement party with the DNA results in hand with proof that poor Lucas Horton had been duped once again by Bonnie. He wasn't Baby Bonnie's daddy. Well, then who was? When it was revealed that the baby daddy had to be related to Lucas, Rex knew he was the father. To his credit, Rex stepped right up and faced his Maury Povich moment like a man.
Rex and Mimi had run into each other a while back and had one heck of a reunion. Rex and Sarah were in a relationship at the time of the reunion. Poor Sarah all of Rex's dirty laundry was just put out there in front of everyone. Welcome Back to Salem, Sarah. Devastated she stormed out.
Sarah and Rex's confrontation later went as expected;
Sarah-How could you do this to me? I thought you loved me.
Rex-I do. I'm so sorry. If I could take it back....I still want to marry you.
Sarah-It's over (gives the ring back).
It's been widely reported that Sarah and Eric Brady are an upcoming pairing (interestingly enough Linsey and Kyle had some chemistry). It's more than fair to say this pairing has a tough act to follow; Eriole. But this isn't Linsey Godfrey's first rodeo. She played Caroline Spencer on The Bold and The Beautiful for six years. She is a soap opera vet and took no time reminding us. Sarah's break up scenes with Rex were first-rate. Linsey has settled right into her role and Sarah has settled right into Salem. We are ready for more.
With Eric's personality, he's best paired with a character with some fire. So, Sarah not only hurt by Rex's infidelity but also being very angry (she wanted to "break his face" and that slap she gave him was a good one) was hopefully a look into a multi-layered Sarah with lots of sparks.
Sarah has barely been in Salem a week and she's been engaged, had her first who the baby daddy reveal, found out her fiance was a cheater and a public break-up. So much for treading water. Sarah just dove into the deep side of the pool!
First impression of Linsey and Sarah, two thumbs up!
