In 2014, after a successful run as Dinah Marler on Guiding Light and Kelly Cramer on One Life to Live, Gina Tognoni made her debut as Phyllis Summers on The Young and the Restless. Tognoni stepped into the role taking over for Michelle Stafford, who had vacated the role in the previous year. Now, in one of the most shocking casting changes in recent time, Gina Tognoni who won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2017 for her portrayal of Phylis will be exiting to pave way for Michelle Stafford's return. According to SOD, Y&R setside sources have confirmed that the new helms of the CBS daytime drama including; Executive Producer Tony Marina and Head Writer Josh Griffith want to bring back a more familiar feel to the Genoa City canvas and in light of that Stafford was rehired. Stafford won two Emmys for her portrayal in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress in 1997 and Outstanding Lead Actress in 2004. She's currently working through her contract at General Hospital as Nina Reeves Cassadine which will expire next month when she is set to return to the CBS Television City studios to film Y&R!
