We got the chance to chat with Hudson West and to get to know the young actor a little better. From how his career got started to his new movie and even a few fun facts about himself.
Hudson, who was born in Dayton, Ohio, started with a modeling agency in Cincinnati where he would take part in acting workshops from time to time. He then traveled to the Model and Talent Expo in Dallas, Texas which led to him being brought out to California.
West has done some impressive work in Primetime television. American Crime Story, Grey's Anatomy and Grace and Frankie just to name a few. He also has had roles in several movies and has done voice-over work for shows as well. "TV shows I think are a little bit cooler, because there can be many episodes and seasons. And people will keep on watching."
"They're not real different," Hudson said when asked about any differences or similarities between the different media platforms. "They're both really cool, and I enjoy doing them both."
When preparing for a role Hudson likes to do some extensive research on the character and the show. "I read the character description first. I try to know the character as well as I can. Find the genre of the show, the storyline, and just kinda get a feel for it."
And as for his latest role, Hudson plays Logan in Roads, Trees and Honey Bees, which is out now on Amazon. A fantastic movie about a struggling father who takes an unexpected cross-country road trip and finds some happiness along the way. West describes Logan as a normal kid who misses his dad in the film.
Next, we talked about Hudson's experience on Dancing with the Stars: Juniors. His time on the show really put his name out to the public. "That was a really great experience. I got to meet a lot of new people. I got to learn how to dance because I did not know how to dance before Dancing with the Stars." Hudson described the training for the show as pretty tough. "It was definitely worth it because you felt really prepared." He also credits his partner Kameron Couch and mentor Hayley Erbert for a "really fun" experience. Hudson also says he wouldn't want to be known as only a reality star, but he would like to do other shows like DWTS in the future to learn new things.
Hudson is known in the Daytime TV world as Jake Spencer on General Hospital. A role that his work for garnered him a Daytime Emmy nod in 2018 for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series. Hudson couldn't really say much about Jake's future scenes but did let us know that he has some upcoming film dates for the soap. So keep your eye out for Hudson in the coming weeks.
Hudson also said that he doesn't have any of the details or dates, but he has filmed a few other movies that will be coming out somewhere down the line.
West sure has accomplished a lot in his 11 years of life. And it seems like his downtime is just as busy and exciting as his work schedule. "I like to do a lot of things. I like to do sports, and I am learning how to play the piano. And [how] to do Kenpo karate." Hudson also expressed his love for drawing and baseball and shared that he was going to start football in the fall. He also stated that loves to hang with his friends and family, and as most kids his age, he enjoys some video games from time to time.
Hudson also shared the fun fact that he was a "sleep-walker and a sleep talker." He said his mom will often video him when he does funny things in his sleep. "I do all kinds of weird things. Sometimes in the middle of the night, I'll get up and try to brush my teeth again or dry my hair."
Hudson West definitely has an interesting life. And we here at Soap Opera News wish him continued success in life and his career.
