Adam Lindo talks his breakout role in Orange Is the New Black, his journey to stardom and more! Check it out here ---->
How great is it when you can say you knew about a band or an actor before they make it big? I have a feeling that we are all about to have that with Adam Lindo. Soap Opera News recently got the opportunity to speak with the up-and-coming actor before his breakout role in Orange Is the New Black debuts on Netflix.
Adam will be playing new character Carlos Litvack in the final season of the Netflix hit show that drops on July 26th. "He's an interesting character!" He had to say about Carlos. He kept mum on the details but let us know that his character will go through a journey and evolve throughout the season. "This storyline is gonna really highlight a lot of things that are going on in our world today that need to be addressed when it comes to other human beings."
This is his breakout role, but you might have seen him in guest spots on shows like Blindspot, The Blacklist, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt to name a few. Lindo grew up a creative kid who loved music, art and Disney musicals...but he took a long way around to acting. "I had a long journey." The notion that he should get a "normal" job with benefits was always in the back of his mind. So, that's what he did. He worked in sales for a while. He got his barber's license in 2013 and was even a police officer. "You know the regular America dream. You're trying to find out what you want to do with yourself." After some time he realized that he wasn't truly happy in his career. He started doing some modeling and was told one day on set that he should become an actor. "From there I went down the rabbit hole. I found my partner in crime which is acting."
He is certainly on his way up and he is open to anything. Even soap operas! He grew up with his family watching soaps. Especially, his aunt, who loved All My Children. Adam has tested for roles on The Young and The Restless and Days of Our Lives and would love to get a character that he could really sink his teeth into. I absolutely think he would make a great addition to the genre. He also loves stage work and wants to break into that world someday.
Lindo also recently finished filming a part in the upcoming live-action Clifford the Big Red Dog film that is scheduled to come out next year. "I was like I have to be in this." He said about the movie. He used to read the books to his sisters when they were growing up and noted how fun the experience was getting to recreate the story in real life.
Along with a friend of his who started a production company he is working on a comedy film titled A Dream House. The project is about a guy who is doing everything it takes to make the love of his life happy. Which ultimately turns into an obsession and causes him to spiral. Production has already started and will star some of Lindo's Orange Is the New Black castmates.
He is a busy man for sure because he is also writing a children's book! The book will center around a barber who loves to work with children. "Kids always bring this light in the room." He brings to it his own personal experiences as a barber and as a kid who grew up in a beauty shop. His mother and aunt worked at a shop throughout the 80s and 90s. He recounts how he would hang out at the shop and sometimes would help out by washing some of the client's hair. "It was just a great environment to experience."
When he isn't working he is keeping up with his fitness and spending time with his family. He and his wife have been together since high school and he hopes to one day be able to help her pay off her student loans. He also is striving to land a role in a series or a major film. Another goal is being able to make his own and other's projects come to fruition.
The sky is the limit and I believe that we will be seeing a lot more of Adam Lindo! Be sure to check him out in the new season of Orange Is the New Black on Netflix on July 26th. You can check out the trailer below:
