Former soap star, Justin Bruening has landed an exciting new series regular role according to Deadline. Bruening among Jamie Lynn Spears, Monica Potter, Heather Headley, Brooke Elliott and Chris Klein have been tapped as series regular for an upcoming Netflix series called Sweet Magnolias.
The series is based on on Sherryl Woods’ popular series of novels published by Harlequin imprint MIRA books. It is set in the charming small town of Serenity, South Carolina and centers on three women who were best friends since childhood.
Bruening will play Cal Maddox, a former professional baseball player who arrived in Serenity looking for a fresh start. The series is executive produced by Sheryl J. Anderson and Dan Paulson. Norman Buckley is directing and listed as a co-executive producer.
Bruening is known to soap fans as Jamie Martin on All My Children and One Life to Live. He is also known for his work on Good Behavior and Grey's Anatomy.
