Congratulations are in order for Days of Our Lives!
The soap has been putting in the work and has made its way back into third place over General Hospital in the ratings after being in fourth all year long. The last time Days was in third was the week of December 24, 2018. According to Soap Opera Network’s latest ratings report for the week of September 2-6, Days gained 82,000 viewers from the week before! In fact, Days has gained back almost 200,000 viewers over the past few weeks! And what is the reason for this bump in viewership? The amazing stories, of course!
My humble opinion as a lifelong soap viewer has always been that when a soap opera has a balance between its wild, campy stories and the more realistic family-based drama it will thrive. Everyone can have something to look forward to! And the last few weeks Days has given us that balance. We’ve had the crazy antics of Kristen and her long-awaited unmasking mixed into the anniversary celebration of one of Days’ most iconic couples. We’ve seen Vivian and Dr. Rolf return from the dead, and at the same time, we were crying alongside Doug and Hope after Julie’s heart attack. And (as an Ericole fan) the best of all, we got to see Eric and Nicole FINALLY reunite after all this time.
I can’t wait to see what is in store for Days of Our Lives going forward! I know we have some uncertainty coming with the time jump, but as long as they continue to provide us with the kind of stories and balance that we have been given these last few weeks I feel like these could be the BEST Days of our Lives!
