During Sam's (Kelly Monaco) trial on General Hospital, viewers would have noticed a new face on the ABC daytime drama. Yes, that's the face of actor, John Burke playing the role of Gabriel Burke.
Burke is a two-time Emmy award-winning television host and actor. He was chosen to help launch the fx network along with Jeff Probst (Survivor), Tom Bergeron (Dancing With the Stars) and Phil Koegan (Amazing Race). His hit show Personal FX The Collectibles Show ran for 1100 live episodes over four years without a teleprompter or cue card! He went on to introduce old movies on AMC before taking over as host of E! News Live. Not long after, famed director James Cameron chose Burke to travel with him to the Titanic for a live documentary for the Discovery Channel. Burke has also been seen hosting shows on Lifetime and the History Channel. Currently, he is the host of Outdoor Nevada for PBS which has him traveling all over the silver state while jumping out of planes and repelling down rock cliffs. His acting credits include Scorpion, Scandal, How to Get Away With Murder, True Blood, and many many more. Besides appearing in Sicario, The Amazing Spiderman, R.I.P.D, Burke has worked alongside Woody Harrelson in the Rob Reiner directed film LBJ. His hobbies include travel (he’s bungi jumped in Africa) and exploration. He carries a BA in journalism from Georgia State University.
He is in no way new to daytime soap operas. In 1993, he played a Chaplain on Days of Our Lives. In 2006, he played a boat captain on Passions. In 1993 he played Fred, in 2004 he played Marty and in 2011 and 2012 he played a Spencer Publications pilot on The Bold and the Beautiful. Most recently he played the role of Calvin Boudreau on The Young and the Restless. In the past, in 2010 he played Everett Dawson on GH before returning now as Gabriel Burke.
