The reason for Daniel Goddard's sudden Y&R exit! Read more here --->>>
In the recent Soap Opera Digest, we got a little more information behind Daniel Goddard’s exit from The Young and the Restless.
Goddard, who has played in the role of Cane Ashby since 2006 posted recently on social media about his firing. Stating “it is with a heavy heart that I share the news that I will no longer be part of the cast of the Young and the Restless.” He noted in the post that the reason for his termination was “without Neil and Lily there just is no Cane.”
The majority of Cane’s storyline revolved around his connection to the Winters family but after the tragic passing of Kristoff St. John (Neil), and the movie to recurring status for Christel Khalil (Lily), Noah Alexander Gerry (Charlie), and Lexie Stevenson (Mattie) the character of Cane has been passed around between storylines aimlessly.
Recently, Cane has been involved in the drama surrounding Katherine Chancellor’s will. He was just given a very large sum of money thanks to Devon -and maybe his father Colin. So, when Goddard announced his exit the timing seemed odd. According to sources in the magazine, Cane’s exit will be tied to the mystery of Katherine’s will. Perhaps he goes on the search for his father? Or maybe takes the money and goes to build a life with his children near Lily?
As they did in 2011, when Goddard was let go from the soap the first time, fans of the actor took to social media to vent their displeasure. Ultimately, he was brought back and many fans and fellow soap stars are hoping for the same thing to happen this time. In fact, several soap actors took to social media to wish Daniel the best.
Christel Khalil stated “You, my fave tv hubby ever.” Jordi Vilasuso (Rey) responded with, “Had no idea brother, you are missed and loved.” And Loren Lott (ex-ana) responded, “They couldn’t keep the legacy going...ok. Well i love you and so does everybody else.” He also received words of encouragement from Eric Martsolf (Brady, Days), Lawrence Saint-Victor (Carter, B&B), Jacob Young (ex-Rick, B&B), and Daniel Hall (ex-Scott, YR).
An insider for SOD reported that while Goddard is still struggling with the decision of the show he remains optimistic and is “weighing his options.” Noting that “he has always loved the schedule of working on a soap because it allowed him to spend quality time with his family.” Also stating that they wouldn’t be surprised to see him reach out to another daytime show in the future.
So, what say you? Would you like to see Daniel on another soap? If so, which one?
