Top 10 Female Soap Performers of 2019!

Like with all of our lists, this was a really tough one to compile. But, Soap Opera News sat down and assessed the year in review and we selected the top 10 female performers of the year. We took into consideration; airtime, material, quality of work, fan reaction and more. After carefully assessing and evaluating we came up with the following top 10. Please check it out and let us know who was your favorite.

First, Our 5 Honorary Mentions:

Kassie DePaiva - Eve Donovan, Days of Our Lives

Michelle Stafford - Nina Reeves, General Hospital

Sal Stowers - Lani Price, Days of Our Lives

Annika Noelle - Hope Logan, The Bold and the Beautiful

Laura Wright - Carly Corinthos, General Hospital

And, our top 10

10. Rebecca Herbst - Elizabeth Webber, General Hospital

9. Gina Tognoni - Phyllis Summers, The Young and the Restless

8. Heather Tom - Katie Logan, The Bold and the Beautiful

7. Katherine Kelly Lang - Brooke Forrester, B&B

6. Amelia Heinle - Victoria Newman, Y&R

5. Arianne Zucker/Stacy Haiduk - Nicole Walker/Kristen DiMera, Days of Our Lives

4. Jacqueline MacInnes Wood - Steffy Forrester, B&B

3. Genie Francis - Laura Collins, GH

2. Camila Banus - Gabi Hernandez, DAYS

1. Maura West - Ava Jerome, GH

Is there anything that Maura West can't do? Absolutely not! This stalwart continues to shine in the genre as she always does since her days as Carly Tenney on As the World Turns. It's no wonder why she already has 3 Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a drama series. In 2019, her character Ava Jerome mainly death with the aftermath of her daughter's death and the fallout within the Ryan/Kevin storyline. West was even awarded the performer of the week for Soap Opera News several times this year. It was another year of Gold performances and we're pretty sure she will be nominated again and quite possibly take home another Daytime Emmy Award. What do you think?

  1. Congrats to all of the talented ladies. A special shout out to Maura West. No there is nothing that this actress cannot do.

  2. Maura West continues to bring Ava Jerome to new levels of awesomeness, you can't not watch Ava especially when she's paired with Laura or Julian

  3. Hope hands down. When she found out that Beth didn't make it. That was so real and I was sobbing 😭

    1. Absolutely Annika Noelle! JMW wasn't on screen for almost 7 months this year so what the hell has she done to be #4 ?? That is a joke !

  4. Love Gaby! Its a shame that MW talent is wasted at GH, and BH(Liz) you know when things are going to hell when she is listed as anything!

  5. Of course Maura West is number one! Did we even need a countdown to verify this? She is old Hollywood wrapped up in the glamorous of a current soap legend! Ava Jerome is unstoppable, and I am hoping that in 2020 she is able to succeed!

Both Stacy Haiduk and Arianne Zucker did incredible working off of each other in their dual roles; it was magical to watch!

I am also loving the inclusion of Gina Tognoni on this list, whose exit was poorly done at "The Young and the Restless," and I fail to see why she couldn't still be in the role of Phyllis, as the writing is still completely aimed towards her portrayal, despite the character development being undone from the five years she excelled in the role.
