Guiding Light alum, Michael O'Leary (ex-Rick Bauer) penned a Facebook letter to his fans to share his struggles with alcoholism and what he has been doing to better himself.
His letter reads:
I wanted to share something deeply personal with you this morning.
I’ve been asked to appear on a radio show and discuss my path to sobriety. Yes. I am a grateful alcoholic in recovery now for 7 years. It is by the grace of God and a 12 step program that some healing has taken place. This will be a life long endeavor but it is happening.
I choose this time now to share my experience-strength-hope with others. My play, ‘Breathing Under Dirt’ has been performed and deals with sobriety and the possibility of the forgiveness that follows. It will be performed again and it’s time to deal with this important subject matter in a public forum. I share this with slight trepidation. There is no finish line for those with substance issues. I get a daily reprieve of which I cherish.
I hurt the people I loved. I’m no different than anyone else who made alcohol a priority over all else. Healing with our family members takes time but it does happen. There is hope when you put that bottle down. I promise you!
To those who are in bondage to something you don’t have to feel this way anymore.
Please join me today at 2pm eastern time on transformation radio as I share my story.
Day at a time,
Be sure to check out Michael on the radio show as he shares his personal story to help others.
