William Lipton has taken the soap world by storm since joining the cast of ABC’s General Hospital at the end of 2018! He quickly fit into the role of Elizabeth Webber and Xander Smith’s son, Cameron. Only appearing in The Adventures of Thomasina Sawyer and the shorts A Girl Named Khan and Finding Hammy before, the role was Lipton’s first major one. We got the opportunity to chat with William about his time on General Hospital, his musical talent, and more. 

Cameron, who William describes as “misunderstood, loyal, and compassionate,” has had an emotional roller coaster of a year. From losing a friend to being forced to grow up quickly after his step-father risked his life for his. “To have worked with all those amazing actors and actresses on such emotional and action-packed scenes was a thrill! I am very thankful to the writers who entrusted me with those heavy scenes!”

While his on-screen life has been rather tumultuous, behind the scenes is a different story. William has made some wonderful relationships with his fellow castmates. Noting how Rebecca Herbst and Roger Howarth have been a great source of “support and knowledge” for him. He has also enjoyed the banter with Kin Shriner when he gets the chance. “Every actor and actress has been such a pleasure to work with. One actress who I always have fun with is Eden McCoy. It’s endless laughter working with her, and I feel very honored to share the camera with such a talented and kind human!” Working with so many amazing actors is a treat, but there is one that he would like to spend more time with. “I think one person who I have worked with but would love to work more with is Maurice Benard. The few times I’ve worked with him have been so educational and I love how he brings so many emotions and colors into his scenes.”

Lipton’s other love is music. From being an “excellent percussionist” on desks at school to touring with the band Pretty Much music is always on his mind. “I think my favorite aspect of the tour was the connection that was created with the audience each performance! To have so many people singing along with you on stage, and sharing such a happy and electric feeling is almost indescribable.” One of his goals is to go on another tour and perhaps share some of his new music. “I’ve been working very hard during small moments of availability on my music. I plan on releasing a ton of new songs that I have been writing these last couple of months!” He enjoys and brings inspiration into his art from many other artists like Harry Styles, Aerosmith, Def Leppard, but his biggest musical inspiration is John Mayer. “Not only is he a brilliant guitarist and singer but he is also a phenomenal lyricist and songwriter.”

William has great admiration for his fans and the opportunities he has achieved. “This past year has been so amazing and the support from followers of my music and acting encourages me to strive further and work harder. I can’t wait for everyone to hear the new music I’ve been working on and to follow Cam on his many adventures on GH. I’m so thankful for all of you and your support! I love you all!”

Whether it be his music, his phenomenal acting, or his appreciation of life, it is clear to see that William Lipton is an exceptional young man. We’re excited to see what this next year has in store for him, And we have our fingers crossed another Daytime Emmy nomination!
