They were one of the most beloved duos on daytime television and still are. In fact, viewers of General Hospital everyday hope that Vanessa Marcil would someday reprise her role of Brenda Barrett and reunite with Maurice Benard's Sonny Corinthos.
In the meantime though, the duo reunited offscreen at Walgreens. In supporting his book Nothing General About It, Marcil Instagrammed, "Two generations of actors....... Thank you @mauricebenard for loving the craft & loving all of us with your truthful and generous heart. Go order Mo’s book #nothinggeneralaboutit".
Her post included a picture of herself, her son Kassius Green, Benard and his son Joshua Benard. And, tt was all smiles. Benard looked back at the duo's beginning and noted, "Wendy Riche and Claire Labine thought it would be a good idea to put Sonny and Brenda together. The audience was all in! In the beginning, I told my friend Vanessa it wasn’t working for me. She could’ve told me to go to hell, but she chose to work her ass off, because she was so determined. I was very proud of her and the rest, as they say in show business, “is history.”
Marcil and Maurice last shared the screen in 2013. You can preorder his book ‘Nothing General About It’ now. which becomes available April 7, 2020. Would you like to see Brenda back in Port Charles?
