Y&R's Brytni Sarpy spills the beans on her The Haves and Have Nots role, The Young and the Restless, and more! Check it out here ---->>>
Over this last year, Brytni Sarpy has made a splash as Elena Dawson on The Young and the Restless. Now she is about to tear it up on OWN’s The Haves and the Have Nots, and we got the opportunity to chat with her about what we can expect from her latest role.
Her character Rianna will appear around the midpoint of the season in the eleventh episode, and according to Sarpy, she has quite the dramatic arc. Describing her storyline as an “intense, high stakes, emotional rollercoaster. This role is very different than any role I’ve played before and I cannot wait to see her brought to life this season.”
Thanks to her work on soap operas, she is no stranger to a fast-paced atmosphere. Though, working with Tyler Perry took that experience to a completely different level. “The amount of content he is able to complete per day is jaw-dropping, you honestly wouldn’t believe it. Mr. Perry is a leader in every sense of the word.” And even though the rapid working speed was familiar to her, the time on set was one that she called unique. “...It is filled with diversity, not only on screen but behind the scenes, especially. It was such a special experience to see so many minorities in roles that are not usually represented in this industry, and in that capacity.”
We are quickly coming up on Brytni’s first anniversary with The Young and the Restless! “It has been an incredible experience, I have loved every minute of getting to know Elena Dawson and all the players in the world of Genoa City. Off-screen, I have had an even more memorable time growing to love the cast and crew of such a historic piece of television. They are an incredible group of humans and I am so happy to be a part of this community and family,” she said about what this past year has meant to her.
Another amazing part has been her and the character of Elena’s growing fanbase. “Support is an incredible feeling, I love the reciprocation and confirmation of the passion, love, and energy we put into this love story. I am so grateful for our fanbase and inspired to really put my best foot forward when stepping into Elena’s shoes every week.” And as for what is next for Elena on The Young and the Restless? “I think this year will bring us an emphasis on her stepping into her own, and finding her own purpose with her reignited career as a doctor and a strong passion to help others,” Sarpy told us.
Away from the soap world, Brytni has been keeping busy with other projects. She asked us to stay tuned as the details stay wrapped on her latest ventures, but revealed that she will be working with some familiar faces from her past. We can’t wait to see what this incredible actress has up her sleeves. And we hope they are successful as her short film, The Reveal. The project was the directorial debut of her friend and General Hospital star Chloe Lanier. Which, according to Brytni, just made it into its first film festival last week! “I was so honored to work with Chloe last year. It’s so much fun to work on projects with friends, of course, because you know them, but more importantly because they really know you and know what you are capable of doing. I am not often cast in comedic roles because often times your previous body of work dictates your future work, but being able to spread my comedic wings was such a fun, refreshing experience.”
It certainly seems like 2020 is going to be Brytni Sarpy’s year, and we couldn’t be more excited for her! It’s wonderful to see the humility that she has as her star is shining brightly. “I couldn’t be more appreciative of the love and I am sending it back tenfold,” Brytni expressed.
