Days of Our Lives’ Matthew Ashford (Jack) is going to star in a new film titled The Castle, and we got the chance to chat with him about the “wild ride” we can expect from the project. 

The Castle mashes history and horror as it follows a couple vacationing in a castle in Germany that has been uninhabited since 1945. Strange and scary events begin to plague them as the dark past of the castle, which was previously owned by a nazi colonel, starts to manifest itself. Ashford told us that the idea of the film “sounded very intriguing” to him and that led to him saying yes. “I’ve always enjoyed things that will make you jump. I also like things that have a smart, interesting catch to it as well.” 

Ashford stars as Jim, who is old friends with the main character Walter. While his old pal has moved on from the carefree days of the past, Jim “in a way never grew up.” Walter, hoping to reunite his passion for life, invites Jim to stay at the castle to reconnect. The chance to stay at this beautiful location is too good to pass up but as some people have learned not all Airbnb’s are “what they are advertised to be,” he teased.

Fans of The Walking Dead and Longmire may recognize Ashford’s screen partner, Lew Temple. The actor has an extensive career in film and television, and just starred in the critically acclaimed Once Upon A Time...in Hollywood. 

The team behind The Castle has launched a successful Indiegogo campaign that is still open for a few more days. We couldn’t let Matt go without asking about Days of Our Lives. And while he couldn’t give away too much, he told us that “the way Ron [Carlivati] writes is big kind of crashing endings.” So, it sounds like we should all brace for impact! He also spoke on the “mind-bending” current storylines with Stefano and Gina. “It’s a lot of fun to be around Stephen [Nichols] and Kristian [Alfonso] in rehearsals. I can tell you that!”
