On June 13th, 1985 Stephen Nichols debuted in the role of Steve "Patch" Johnson on 'Days of Our Lives' and the daytime screens were never the same since that day. Nichols came on the scenes as Steve served in the Merchant Marines with Bo Brady (ex-Peter Reckell) and they quickly became good friends until they both fell in love with the same woman - Britta. They competed for her even in violent ways - the competition went as far as Bo and Steve getting into a knife fight which ended with Steve losing one of his eyes.
Nichols was a part of the NBC daytime drama from June 13, 1985, to October 23, 1990, and made returns in June 2006 until February 2009 and again in August 2015 till present. Throughout his tenure on the soap, his most popular relationship remains to be with Dr. Kayla Brady Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) who debuted the year after him. He has worked as a Private Investigator, ISA Agent, Police Officer, Merchant Marine and a delivery man. Together he and Kayla have 2 children; Joey Johnson (James Lastovic) and Stephanie Johnson (ex-Shelley Hennig). In recent times Steve learned that he had a son with Ava (ex-Tamara Braun) named Tripp (Lucas Adams).
