It's all smiles and joy for daytime soap opera actor, Jason Thompson who took home his first Daytime Emmy Award tonight at the award ceremony. Thompson has been nominated six times and now is the proud winner of the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series award for his portrayal of Billy Abbott on The Young and the Restless.
Thompson began his soap career in 2005 as Dr. Patrick Drake on General. He stayed with the show until January 2016 when he made his last appearance on the show. For his work on the ABC daytime, he was nominated 5 times, 2 in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor (In 2011 and 2012) and 3 in the category of Outstanding Lead Actor (In 2013, 2014 and 2015).
Thompson won his first Emmy tonight after doing a superb job with Billy facing his inner demons. His reel was so powerful that upon one look we predicted him as the winner. Congratulations to this Daytime Emmy award-winning actor.
