On August 1, 1997, Rebecca Herbst graced daytime fans with her talents as she originated the role of Elizabeth Webber on 'General Hospital'. Originally she auditioned for the role of Sarah Webber, Liz’s sister. Although she did not get the part, ‘GH' created the role of Liz Webber for Herbst to play making her debut on August 1.
Liz arrived in Port Charles to stay with her grandmother, Audrey (Rachel Ames) and her sister, Sarah. She quickly developed a crush on Lucky Spencer who was played by Jonathon Jackson back then, but at that time Lucky was interested in her sister. Liz was raped on Valentine’s Day and Lucky was the guy to help her recover. Throughout her time in PC, Liz has married guys such as Lucky and Ric Lansing. She was paired with characters such as; AJ Quartermaine, Jason Morgan, and Franco Baldwin while Emily Quartermaine (ex-Natalia Livingston) was named her best friend. Throughout her time on the show, she received 3 Daytime Emmy award nominations, 1 in the category of Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series and 2 in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
