Lucas Adams, the son of Brent and Shari Adams stop by recently to talk with Soap Opera News. Adams love sports, dogs, his friends and so much more. He worked on Days of Our Lives and was introduced as Tripp Dalton, the son of the iconic Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) and Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun). While working on the show, he earned Daytime Emmy nominations in the category of Outstanding Younger Actor in A Drama Series in 2018 and 2019. He also briefly played Wesley on The Young and the Restless in 2012. He was born and raised on a farm in a small town in Texas and move to LA to fulfill his dream of becoming an actor. He is dating actress, Shelby Wulfert and we got the chance to catch with him about life during this pandemic, his time on DAYS, upcoming projects and more.
We were concerned with all that has been happening and asked Adams about his state during this pandemic to which he responded, "I have been fine, honestly. It's been very interesting, to say the least, living in Los Angeles especially with the numbers so high". Adams continued to highlight the state of things as he noted, "Everything's been shut down. So, my friends and I - we try to do Zoom calls as much as we can. We've kind of normalize, but, it's been very weird for me because I am pretty much into sports and I usually play sports a year-round. I am in softball league, baseball league, basketball, and anything like that. Without that, it has been very weird to me because that's a big hobby of mine. It's something that I do literally throughout the year. Without being able to do that, it has been very odd. That's been one of my biggest things. So as soon as the golf courses were able to open up with the restrictions involved and masks on, I really took the opportunity. I was there straight away and by myself, the happiest to be able to go out there and play some sports for a little bit. But, I got to talk to my family a lot more on the phone and through Facetime so that's been very nice. So, I've been doing okay so far."
Has he been working since this pandemic? He noted, "Nothing has been going on. They just restarted some productions. There hasn't been anything open out there. It's been very crazy."
Luckily for Adams, he got to work with some of the most amazing and beloved people on the NBC daytime drama and that includes his onscreen dad and stepmom. When we asked him about being attached to the iconic Johnson family, he was quick to share, "Oh, it was incredible. For one, Stephen (Steve) and Mary Beth (Kayla) are like the nicest people, ever. They took me under their wings and started showing me the ropes. They treated me like I was really their son. That was pretty incredible and especially because the fanbase for Steve and Kayla is huge and so coming into that knowing what I knew and the legacy that was involved, I was actually pretty excited because I got to jump into something that people have been literally watching for like 30 years. So, I was excited but I was also very nervous because I knew I was coming into a storyline that has been a favorite for decades. So indeed it was exciting and very nerve-wracking, Stephen and Mary Beth were amazing."
You could tell he had the most amazing time being on such an established show. He made no hesitation highlighting the joy of working with the cast, "Everybody I worked with is pretty amazing." He was asked who were his favorite scene partners and he said, "My first thought process was Stephen and Mary Beth. I love having scenes with Mary Beth because there's so much fun and we always just nail it. It's so easy to have that conversation back and forth with her. And, Stephen he's like your dad and best friend mixed into one. It's so easy to talk with him. Olivia Rose Keegan (Claire) and Victoria Konefal (Ciara) - they're incredible. I love being in scenes with them. I would say, everybody." While he enjoyed being on the show, there is definitely one person he would have loved to work with more, "One of my favorite ones that I would've like to have done more was I love being in scenes with Kate because Lauren Koslow is just an incredible actress and she plays that kind of conniving evil so well. Being in scenes with her where we got to square off on each other was really, really fun and I wish could have done more of those. I really liked those."
Is Adams anything like Tripp Dalton? "Tripp, I hold very dear and close to me. A lot of his personality is very close to me. It's obviously different. I would say that there wasn't much I learned but I am glad Tripp learned because he was very immature when he first started. So I can say I've matured and grown older with Tripp as he also did."
The rumor mill is buzzing about the actor's possible return but he could only say, "No! I can't say anything about that!"
As for what's on the radar for him, he told us, "I have a movie called American Pie that I am in very shortly coming out on October 6 to DVD and digital and then the movie Confessional that I play a really, really terrible human being on Shutter. It's a horror film and a Shutter exclusive. That's about it because of the last 6 months, I haven't really been able to do anything."
Adams spoke about his recent move with his long time girlfriend, Shelby Wulfert. "We've actually lived together in a house with our roommates for a while. And so, we actually were redecorating something when we were moving. That was like one of our big projects. It's been a lot of fun getting to collaborating with her. Because she knows more about interior designs than I do."
We tried to get to know a little bit more about Adams as a person and what he does outside of acting. "Like I said, sports is one of my big ones. That is something that any chance I got, I would be outside playing sports. But, other than that I do play video games. I have my dog, Lando that I take to the dog park and we do go for long walks. I have been reading a lot more during this quarantine. I read a lot of comic books as well. Reading comics has been one of my big ones of late. I've actually made a few potholders with a loom that I have because, why not? That's been a side hobby of mine."
He couldn't end without leaving an important message behind, "I hope everyone stays safe and I hope that they wear their masks."
