Soap Opera News had the opportunity to speak with The Bold and the Beautiful’s Lawrence Saint-Victor about his new contract status, Carter’s new relationship, new projects, and much more! Check it out below.
We were especially excited to chat with Lawrence after the news broke recently that he is now on contract with The Bold and the Beautiful! The move is something that fans have long been asking for. “It means the world to me. [The fans] love and support over the years have really made my time on the show something really special. I love them and I’m one of them. I’m a fan of B&B as well.”
While viewers are excited to have new episodes of our favorite daytime dramas, returning to work during the midst of a global pandemic must bring its own set of challenges. “At first I was concerned, but I was immediately put at ease on my first day back. There is so much caution and concern at CBS, I feel really safe. It’s a new normal. I’m just happy that we are able to come back safely and continue to tell these stories.”
Now that we will be seeing more of him, we had to know what was coming up for Carter! “For a while, the fans have been wanting to see Carter with a love interest, and it looks like that’s definitely happening. He is quite taken with Zoe.” He went on to say, “I think there is something so interesting about these two characters. I love working with Kiara [Barnes]. We have such sweetness and ease to our work. I’m a big fan of hers.”
Over the years since joining the show in 2013, Lawrence has had some great moments but one stands out among the crowd for him. “I think my involvement in the Maya transgender story. To be part of that story was a complete honor. Carter finding out about Maya and then dealing with their past from this new perspective was definitely one of my favorite Carter moments.” He also probably has the record for the person who has performed the most weddings in a soap opera at this point! Ha! “I’ve done so many weddings, I might as well be a marriage officiant in real life,” he joked. “Weddings are pretty easy and a lot of fun at this point. I think in the begging it was a little challenging, but now it’s like riding a bike. The lawyer stuff does get a little challenging. Carter is much smarter and way more articulate than I am.
As he begins to get his much-deserved screentime, we asked if he could what would he write next for Carter. “That’s such a good question. I think I would like to see his moral code challenged. He’s such a good stand up guy, and I’m curious what would happen if he encountered something that shook his very foundation. Not for him to turn bad necessarily, but for some of his flaws to rise to the surface.”
The actor from Spring Valley, New York told us that while he had always loved television and film, it wasn’t until he began doing theater in college that he fell in love with the art of acting, and one of his first jobs of school was as Remy Boudreau on the long-running Guiding Light. “I LOVE Remy and Guiding Light,” he exclaimed. “It was such a warm family environment. I really liked playing Remy, because I got to explore so many different levels of his personality. We had good guy Remy, then tortured Remy after Tammy died, then we had the Remy who was trying to put his life back together, and then we had romantic comedy Remy when Karla Mosley joined the show as Christina. It was a lot of fun.”
As fans of this medium, we always had to ask the age-old question about what his favorite storyline was. “I really loved the baby Max storyline. When Remy was preparing to be a father and his baby dies a few days after he was born. It was such a heavy, but bittersweet story.” With the anniversary of Guiding Light’s finale coming up we wondered how he would describe the legacy of the beloved soap. “Love. I think that word describes it best. During my time on the show, it was what all the characters in their own way were seeking, demanding, and cherishing.”
While his talent on-screen is incredible, we are impressed with his work behind the scenes as he is the creative mind behind several projects like Wed-locked with his Bold and GL co-star Karla Mosely. The actor shared that the duo is currently working on expanding the series along with some new projects in the works. “I’m always brainstorming and writing. Nothing I can share yet, but my imagination is always running.” He also has found time to do some voiceover work for Netflix’s anime series Scissor Seven. “I play a character called Mad Dog. It was a lot of fun, and really safe since I did the voice recording in my living room.”
We love to see our favorite soap stars succeeding! Thank you, Lawrence, for a fun interview! We can’t wait to see what’s next for Carter.
