General Hospital Alum Nathin Butler Talks His Personal New Project, Soaps, and More! Read it here ---->>>
Butler told us that he was raised in a creative household thanks to his mother, who was a country singer. “She always had me, my sisters, and my brother performing at a young age. We were always singing up on stage.” After a recommendation from his high school drama teacher, Nathin found himself attending the National Institute of Dramatic Arts where he says his fate as an actor was determined.
In 2011, he joined the cast of General Hospital as Dr. Ewen Keenan. “My favorite memory from General Hospital would probably be some of my later stuff with Kelly Sullivan. Some of those scenes were really cool. I think the writing really started to go in an excellent way for my character. And then I also started to become the villain, which is always fun. Also, all my stuff with Becky Herbst was always fantastic and so much fun. Acting with Maurice Benard was amazing. I really learned a lot from acting with him. I had such a great time on GH.”
He also credits his time on the soap for teaching him how to act on his feet. “It’s a lot of content that you’re filming every day. So, I definitely got good at memorizing lines but I also had to really embody a character. I really learned a lot from the actors with how professional they are and how they work. I definitely still carry with me today the stuff I learned from there.” As for if he would ever return to the daytime world one day? “I definitely would consider going back to GH or any of the other soaps.”
Recently, Butler had the opportunity to step back on set for the first time since the quarantine. I was recently on set helping out a friend. It’s a commercial for an Army campaign but I am looking forward to getting on set more.” The actor was excited to share that he is hard at work writing a true-crime television series, Far North, based on his family’s life in Far North Queensland, Australia. “My family has kind of a rough past and I am going to share with the world what it’s like to be an Australian cowboy and to grow up in what I consider to be the wild west. It’s still somewhat like that these days and I don’t think anyone has seen what the Australian outback is really like. So, look out for it!”
Thank you, Nathin, for the interview! We can’t wait to see what comes next.
