Our Performer of the Week is Days of Our Lives' Mike Manning (Charlie)! And our Honorable Mention is General Hospital's Sydney Mikayla (Trina)!
General Hospital
Scott and Leisl had to work fast to cover up the fact that Dr. Kirk was dead, leading Obrecht to take over Franco’s treatment. Sasha tried hard to cover up her disappointment as Maxie revealed that there had to be some changes made to her Deception contract. She also reluctantly agreed to bring her problems to the public before it gets leaked somewhere else. Tracy set it up to make it look like Alexis had driven drunk. And Alexis’ refusal to do Chase’s DUI test led to her getting arrested. Britt questioned Cyrus’ plan to manufacture a new drug for the hospital. One of Cyrus’ men interfered as Sonny held Julian at gunpoint leading to him getting away...and shot. Brando told Cyrus about Sasha trying to locate drugs in his apartment.
Carly learned that Joss and Cam had been involved in Trina’s plan to find her father. Jordan met with Taggert trying to get him to leave town but it was for nothing as they found themselves in a shootout with one of Cyrus’ men. After killing the man, Jordan had no other option than to bring Mac into the fold and for Taggert to turn himself in. Curtis and Laura came up with a plan to have Laura admitted to the care facility as a patient in the hopes of locating Florence Grey. While there she gets busted by Martin and learns from him and Cyrus that she is their half-sister...and that Cyrus “accidentally” killed their father.
On his way out of town, Julian has somewhat of an out of body experience from his blood loss and finds himself face to face with Duke, Connie, and Alexis. Ava was happy to learn that Ryan was left in a vegetative state. Chase and Michael had it out over the affair lie and what that means going forward. Jason had to call Diane when he was arrested for killing one of Cyrus’ men at the bus stop. Portia and Trina’s reunion was marred by their feelings towards him for lying about his death. Curtis was upset with Jordan for her own lies about Taggert. Sonny offered Julian a chance to live if he helped take down Cyrus but he refused and the two found themselves in a struggle that led to the bridge to collapse beneath them.
Days of Our Lives
Allie went to Belle for advice on how to start her civil suit against Tripp. Xander tried to get Sarah to step away from their plan against Philip once he realized that Ava was involved. She reveals to him that her plot against Philip is working after he kissed her. Joey’s first night home was a little awkward with the animosity between Kayla and Tripp. Charlie and Claire took things to the next level as they became boyfriend and girlfriend. Shawn and Ben found comfort in each other at Ciara’s grave. Nicole and Rafe got the chance to catch up. Brady and Chloe enjoyed their first day at Basic Black together as they both wanted to make a good impression on Nicole.
Tripp told Steve that he understood his concerns about Ava but this was the only opportunity he had to learn about who he was. Allie found herself questioning her memory from the night of the attack after talking with Steve. Jen found herself more convinced than ever that Kate and Jack were still hooking up when one of Julie’s friends at the inn remembered her coming in with a man whose name started with J. Not believing her, Lucas was able to show the man a picture of Jack and he confirmed that he wasn’t the man with Kate. Abby told Jake about Chad’s accusation and he agreed to not be alone with her as it would make Chad more suspicious. What they didn’t know was that Chad overheard the part about not wanting to make him more suspicious.
Tony and Anna returned for the holidays. Gwen seemed wary of Anna and her incessant questions. Chad and Tony visited Kristen in prison where Chad learned that Rolf wanted to apologize for his actions. While talking to him, Rolf slipped up about knowing that Abby invited Jake to Thanksgiving. Gwen finds a gift meant to Kate from Jake and gives it to Abby in front of the family. When they learned that it didn’t come from Chad, Jake was forced to come forward and claim the gift but turned it back on Gwen, saying it was meant for her. Philip told Ava that he had someone on the inside watching Xander, not knowing that Charlie was actually working as eyes and ears for her. Ava accuses Charlie of being the one who raped Allie as he is her son and Tripp’s half-brother. Charlie is finally forced to confess and begs her to keep his secret. When it looked like she was about to tell Tripp the truth he knocked her out and tied her up elsewhere. Tripp and Steve broke into Ava’s apartment when she didn’t answer the door and found her gone.
The Bold and the Beautiful
Thomas struggled with what happened and wondered if his actions all came as a result of the hematoma or if he was crazy. Hope did her best to comfort him but had her own questions about his condition, reaching out to Finn for answers. News about Thomas began to spread leading Zende to tell Zoe that he will never forgive Thomas for hurting her. Thomas told Ridge that while he is no longer obsessed with Hope, he does still care about her. Liam continued to play with Steffy’s emotions as he talked about how good of a life they could have had together...if he wasn’t in love with Hope. Steffy was finally about to get Liam to agree to keep quiet about their night together. Brooke comforted Ridge as he had a hard time with the realization that he could have lost his son. Liam and Steffy tried their best to hide their guilt from Hope and Finn.
The Young and the Restless
Theo decided to take the boutique deal from the Abbotts after talking with Summer. Billy and Lily were surprised to learn that the witness was Alyssa. Billy soon found himself in trouble for interfering with an investigation when Rey caught him trying to talk to her. Nate learned that the damage to his nerves was too severe and that the likelihood of a full recovery wasn’t good. Sharon called out Nick’s need to play savior when he went to her for advice about Phyllis’ reaction to him bailing her out. Lauren told Sally that having ambition is great but it’s what she does with it that matters. Victoria seemed to be jealous of Lily and Billy’s relationship when Lily kept refusing her help with Billy.
Amanda and Lily both worked to help Billy as he spent his first night in jail. Lily was able to sneak into Alyssa’s room where she found a distinctive pair of gloves that she discovered were shooting gloves. Digging further she learned that Alyssa was a competitive markswoman and brought the information to Rey, who looked into it further. Lola saw an upset Faith and spent some time giving her advice. Billy had a dream about how his obsession with revenge could impact the people he loves. Summer told Kyle to stay away from Sally after the two had a tense run-in. Michael delivered the good news to Billy that the charges against him were being dropped as Alyssa was arrested.
Our Performer of the Week is Days of Our Lives’ Mike Manning!
Wow! Mike Manning plays a shockingly good bad guy! It was incredible to watch the differences between the man that Claire is dating and the man who raped Allie. Charlie quickly saw his new happy life go down the drain as Ava, his mother, accused him of being the one who raped Allie in London, knowing he was there watching over Tripp for her. He goes through several stages of denial and deflection before confessing what he called his “mistake.” That snap-second move from fear to anger as he realized that his mother was going to turn him in to save her beloved Tripp was eerily good.
Our Honorable Mention is General Hospital’s Sydney Mikayla!
Sydney is one of the greatest talents that General Hospital has. She gives me hope for the next generation of soap stars. This week Trina found herself at the end of her mission to find her father as they reunited. Her initial happiness was soon replaced with anger as she confronted him for lying to her about his death and letting their family grieve him. Her performance is always filled with beautiful, raw emotion. And I better be seeing her name on the Emmy nominations list soon.
