Our Star of the Month is General Hospital's Genie Francis! Read More Here --->>>
What a year for soap operas, eh? This year soap opera fans were blessed with some amazing performances, and that continues with our final Star of the Month for 2020: Genie Francis!
The actress, who is incredibly celebrating 44 years since filming her first scenes with General Hospital this week, always delivers when it comes to her work. Though, there was something in her work this month that made us so happy. First of all, she actually had a story!
Genie is GH. So, it’s disheartening when we just see her roaming around Port Charles without a purpose. Since her return, her story has kicked into gear as she teamed with Curtis to take down Cyrus Renault. What we didn’t expect to find out was that the bad guy she was chasing would turn out to have a connection to her biological father, Gordon Grey! Things spiraled and now Laura has discovered that she has not one but two half-brothers in Martin Grey and Cyrus Renault.
Francis and her screen partner Jeff Kober did an incredible job with their scenes recently after the reveal. The two characters may have similar demons in their past but they are wildly different people because of their choices made in life. Laura may feel bad for Cyrus but she will not excuse his actions...especially when it comes to setting up the bomb that injured her daughter.
One of the most heartbreaking scenes this year came from Genie Francis as Laura said her goodbyes to Lulu. After the explosion at the Floating Rib, Lulu was left with a traumatic brain injury and was left with little hope that she would wake up from her coma. Laura made the difficult decision to send her to a long-term care facility to ensure that she got the best treatment available. The scenes touched us deeply because you could see not only the love between mother and daughter but between the two actresses as well. That was Genie saying goodbye to Emme Rylan.
Queen Genie always gives 110% no matter the material. Her strong, beautiful, and powerful portrayal of Laura has given so much to the world of General Hospital and to the viewers. Thank you!
