General Hospital's William deVry Is Relocating to Canada! Learn more here--->>
After a 7-year-run as Julian Jerome on General Hospital, William deVry has vacated the role. He spoke with the Toronto Sun about his exit, future plans, relocating to Canada and more.
In regards to relocating, he stated, "Yes, I’m leaving Los Angeles for now. Various reasons, I suppose. Before GH, I had a really good career going doing U.S. shows up in Canada. But, I was away from home for 9 months out of the year while Rebecca stayed home. Now Rebecca is away for 9 months out of the year working on her shows in Canada! We have five dogs and we just felt it was too much of a disruption in our lives to keep the house while working all over the continent and never being home. We just felt the time was right to be together and move to Canada. Financially, we can always come back and buy a house if I get another series in Los Angeles, but nobody ever works here anymore. So why struggle to keep the whole operation afloat when moving to Canada is a much better solution?"
As for whether or not he'd take on another soap role, he shared, "That option is always open, but right now, during COVID cutbacks it just doesn’t seem like a possibility in the timeframe I’d like it to happen. So that being said, once I leave, I’m gone. Not coming back. I think that was the biggest thing that the fans took notice of. I had said a few times, if they let me go now, in this environment, I’m not coming back. I have to jump through way too many hoops and disruptions in our life only to come back in six months. Once I sell the house and leave the U.S. and get set up in Canada, I’m committed to a primetime existence. The sad thing is we LOVE our L.A. house. But we just felt it was time to leave under said circumstances. The industry has abandoned Los Angeles; we’d be going all over for work. Why stay? If DAYS or The Young and the Restless had called, I 100% would’ve listened. I would have loved to join DAYS’ Billy Flynn (Chad) and my buddy Tamara Braun (Ava). I also would have loved to join my Canadian buddy Jason Thompson (Billy) over at YR."
