Soap earth is blessed with many talents and we particularly wish to focus on the talent of Eric Braeden who made his debut as Victor Newman on 'The Young and the Restless' 41 years ago.
On February 8, 1980, Victor arrived in Genoa City, Wisconsin for business which eventually led to him forming his own worldwide conglomerate named "Newman Enterprises". Originally he was only supposed to be on the show for an eight to twelve-week period. But, the character and the story resonated so well with fans that the show decided to give Braeden a contract.
Today, he is considered an icon and a leading man of the soap opera genre. As such, Braeden's distinct performance of Victor has garnered widespread praise from critics, who described him as legendary and "enthralling". Victor is famously characterized for his power-hungry ways and low-toned voice and also often referred to as the mustache man.
Throughout his time in Genoa City, his first marriage was to Julia Newman (ex-Meg Bennett). After that marriage, he formed a romance with then stripper Nikki Reed (Melody Thomas Scott). Their union often referred to as "Niktor" developed into a supercouple pairing and one of soap's greatest, which lasted over three decades. Today, they still remain one of the most popular pairings on daytime television and together they share two children; Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow).
