Fifty years ago today, Erika Slezak stepped into the role of Victoria “Viki” Lord on One Life to Live!
After auditioning for a role on the show’s sister soap, All My Children, she was offered the role of Viki and began her 42 year run on March 17, 1971. Slezak brought a powerful grace to the protagonist, which resonated with viewers around the world. Her incredible talent and dedication to the character’s story garnered her six Daytime Emmy Awards out of nine total nominations.
Serving as the matriarch of the Lord family, this beloved heroine has been through it all including divorce, out-of-body experiences, breast cancer, an epic rivalry, losing her daughter to lupus, and, of course, dissociative identity disorder.
