Please join us in wishing Days of Our Lives’ Jackée Harry a happy birthday!
Jacqueline Yvonne Harry was born on August 14, 1956, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina before spending her childhood in New York. Her love of performing started at an early age when she landed the lead role of the King in her school’s production of The King and I. Her passion for the stage would see her through to her first professional acting gig in 1973 with Richard Wesley’s Goin’ Through Changes and an impressive Broadway career, which includes roles in A Broadway Musical, The Wiz, and The Boys From Syracuse!
She made the leap to the small screen in 1983 when she joined the cast of Another World as Lily Mason. Soon after she would land her breakout role of Sandra Clark on the sitcom 227. Her incredible performance would lead to her being the first African American to win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. She would even earn a Golden Globe nomination in 1989.
In 1994, she took on another iconic role as Lisa Landry on Sister, Sister. She would go on to win two NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and cement herself in the hearts of many viewers for years to come. Over the years, Jackée has built up a resume filled with spectacular performances on the stage, small screen, and in film.
This past year, Jackée returned to her soap roots with her role as Paulina Price on NBC’s Days of Our Lives. Her presence has brought a bright and fun energy to the series. And it has been lovely to see her play opposite some of the greatest talents in Daytime! We cannot wait to see what’s next for Paulina and for Jackée. Happy Birthday!
