Kathleen Gati is celebrating her 64th birthday today.
Gati was born on August 13, 1957, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada to parents; Laszlo and Agnes Gati. Her parents are Hungarian who escaped Hungary during the Hungarian Revolution. Her dad, Laszlo Gati, was a symphony conductor and her mother, Agnes, was an opera singer and a fashion designer.
She was Emmy Nominated for Outstanding Actress in 2016 and is the winner of seven Best Actress awards, a Best Supporting Actress Award and a Best Actress Nominee/ She started acting at the age of three, wrote, directed and starred in her first play at the age of eight. At the age of 20, Gati relocated to New York, and began acting in off-Broadway productions, and well as ABC daytime soap opera All My Children from 1989 to 1990. In the early 1990s, Gati moved to Hungary for a film role and stayed for five years before returning in the United States.
She subsequently stayed on in Hungary for five years, during which time she starred in numerous films, television series and several movies of the week, winning multiple additional awards along the way including (for her story and lead role) the Film and Television Critics award for A színésznö és a halál (1995) (The Actress and the Death).
Gati has appeared in a number of movies, include Sunshine (1999), Igby Goes Down (2002), Meet the Fockers (2004), and The Future(2011). On television, she has had guest-starring roles on The Practice, NYPD Blue, ER, Cold Case, Desperate Housewives, NCIS, The Mentalist, and Arrow. She also had the recurring role as Russian First Lady Anya Suvarov on Fox series 24 from 2006 to 2007.
In 2012, Gati joined the cast of ABC daytime soap opera General Hospital playing villainous Dr. Liesl Obrecht. In 2015, she also had the recurring role in the BET drama series Being Mary Jane playing network executive Shohreh Broomand, and during 2015-16 had a starring role in the web series Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462.
