General Hospital's Wes Ramsey Celebrates Special Anniversary! Learn more here--->>
On November 14th, 2017, Wes Ramsey debuted as villain Peter August on General Hospital. Today he took to his personal Instagram to thank all the fans of the show with this message “4 yrs ago today I had the privilege of binging Peter August into the magical world of Port Charles for the very first time. It has been an honor (& a roller coaster) for me ever since. To all the fans who have stuck by me, to the ones I've won over from time to time & even all the rest that I'm still working on, it has been one of the great privileges of my life to perform for you & try to keep you entertained these last 4 years. So here's to keeping the controversy stirring & still shaking the trees!”
The character of Peter August has transformed from being first introduced as a total stranger to being teased as the possible the son of super-spy and fan-favorite Anna Devane, portrayed by the one and only Finola Hughes to finally being revealed as the son of the late supervillains Caesar Faison and Anna’s twin sister, Alex Devane. His ties to the canvas have provided no end of story reaching to almost all corners of the extensive General Hospital cast. In June of this year, Peter was thought to be dead and chilling in a freezer in the basement of the hospital until it was revealed in August that he had in fact survived to terrorize citizens of Port Charles once more.
Before coming to Port Charles, the Julliard trained actor had appeared on both Guiding Light and Days Of Our Lives and had played the role of Wyatt Halliwell, grandson to Finola Hughes’s character, on the series Charmed. His extensive training and resume prepared him well to take on the complex character he has portrayed for 4 years on General Hospital.
Off-screen he enjoys date nights and playing pickleball with his longtime girlfriend, General Hospital leading lady, Laura Wright who portrays Carly Corinthos, whose support he recently praised in an interview with Soap Opera Digest when he was asked about the mental taxation of playing such a dark character, “It is a gift and a privilege though to be able to do what we do. I get to go home to a beautiful and compassionate partner who understands what it takes.” The couple also share a dog, Kimba who Ramsey also credits, “Our puppy, Kimba, really helps too.”
He went on to say, “I love being an actor and trying new things in my work. I love the opportunity of playing a controversial character who can be a catalyst for exciting things on GH. To all the fans who have been supportive and enjoyed this roller coaster alongside me, I feed off your energy and appreciate your enthusiasm. To anyone who has had a difficult time with my character, my portrayal or even separating me from the character, just know that Peter August and Henrik Faison only exist in our collective imaginations we share together and that I, Wes, am wishing you abundance and prosperity. And if I’m ever given the opportunity, I’ll be nice to you. It’s how I was raised.”
We here at Soap Opera News want to join in with the other fans of General Hospital and wish Wes Ramsey a very happy 4th anniversary on the show and can’t wait to tune in to ABC every weekday to see what new torment Peter August will deliver onto Port Charles!
