Performer of the Week: General Hospital’s Maurice Benard!
Is Sonny getting softer? Maurice Benard continues to show how Sonny has kept some of Mike’s softer side this week on GH. He told Carly and Michael that he told Ms. Wu he wouldn’t interfere with Brad’s possible parole much to their dismay. He had a heart-to-heart with Spencer about redemption. Most notable, he told Nina that he would change his rules so she wouldn’t have to avoid hanging out at Charlie’s. Phyllis will be working at Charlie’s and Sonny owns the place; Sonny had initially told Nina to stay away from him and his loved ones. Nina mentioned she would have to find a new place to hang out at and Sonny told her she shouldn’t avoid Charlie’s [he claims he was changing his rules to favor Phyllis, not Nina – but Maurice has brilliantly continued to show just how complicated this situation is – Sonny still has a soft spot for Nina!]. When Nina discussed the possibility of her going to prison, Maurice showed how torn Sonny felt through his body language and facial expressions. Fans are used to Sonny being upset; yelling, making threats, and throwing barware, so it is a nice change of pace to see this calmer, softer Sonny yet still stands his ground [fans don’t worry, we’re sure we’ll still get Sonny screaming SOB! and throwing barware here and there]. Complex, layered characters are what makes soap operas great and when it comes to Carly/Sonny/Nina; there is so much to untangle.
General Hospital
Ms. Wu approached Sonny for a favor in return of her saving Jason & Carly. She wanted a guarantee that Sonny and his family won’t interfere with her nephew, Brad’s possible parole. Sonny spoke on behalf of him and his family that they won’t; Carly & Michael were not thrilled.
Spencer & Esme learn from Cameron that he and Trina considered dating. Spencer appeared jealous and Esme definitely noticed. Esme approached Trina at Ava’s art gallery and told Trina that she’d appreciate it if Trina redirected Spencer if he seeks Trina out to discuss intimate topics such as telling his father he no longer wants to be a part of the family as she thinks it’s inappropriate for them to do so. She accused Trina of trying to steal her boyfriend. Trina denied it and told her she would not turn Spencer away if he sees her for advice as she would do that for any of her friends. Esme leaves angry – she dug her nails into her palms so deep, they bled.
On Cassidine Island; Drew, Jason, and Britt are still held captive by Peter. Peter slips up and publicly shows how he can activate and deactivate Drew by saying certain phrases and showing particular tarot cards; Jason & Britt take notice.
Joss & Cameron considered having sex after Spencer & Esme gave them a hard time about not being intimate with each other yet. They tried to have sex at Cameron’s house when they were alone but agreed they are not ready yet and are willing to wait.
Finn, Violet, Cameron, and Aiden surprise Elizabeth for her birthday with a small party at Liz’s home. Finn later takes Liz out to the Savoy. Liz contemplates if she’s ready to move forward into a new relationship after losing Franco.
Robert confronted Olivia; there’s no denying they have feelings for each other, but he called her out for leaning on him whenever things go sour with her and Ned. He also thinks he’s some type of fantasy hero for her. She tells him she genuinely likes him for him. Ned still intends on trying to make things work with Olivia.
Maxie & BrookLynn hired a man to pretend to be BrookLynn’s baby daddy. He and BLQ put on a good show to Gladys who believed them and intends on backing off of the situation. However, Austin knows Gladys has something on BLQ and he wants payback for BLQ trying to get his medical license taken away from him and forcing him to not have any ELQ shares. He stirs the pot by telling Valentin that Gladys has something on BLQ that affects him. Valentin tries to pry info out of Gladys. Meanwhile, Chase is trying to figure out what happened to Maxie’s baby and he’s frustrated that she and BLQ stonewall him. He goes to interview Valentin who shares how BLQ gave birth alone; Chase is slowly putting the pieces together.
GH’s director, Phideaux Xavier, performs on the show at The Savoy in a musical act that the mystery man who has been asking questions about Curtis is behind. Curtis is concerned that a mob is trying to get involved in his club. He finally meets face to face with the mystery man.
The Young & The Restless
Abby is insistent on trying to find out what happened to Chance, convinced he’s still alive. Her family and friends talk her out of trying to track him down and when she agrees to stay home; she breaks down. Her loved ones, Devon in particular, are concerned she won’t be able to properly take care of baby Dominic in her current state. She shows up on Devon’s doorstep with the baby and admits she can’t do this alone.
Devon has already considered the idea of temporarily taking in the baby and confided in Lily & Amanda separately about the idea. Amanda asked Devon if he would want to legally consider changing his rights to be a legal guardian for Dominic in case anything were to happen to Abby.
Mariah told Tessa she offered to move back into the Chancellor house to take care of the baby and Tessa is concerned that this would hurt Mariah’s progress.
Nick & Phyllis are officially over; Jack & Phyllis have a heart-to-heart after the breakup and he reassures Phyllis that she is not a failure just because the relationship didn’t work out.
Nick is hurt that no one in his family kept him in the loop about Abby and Chance; feeling yet again he’s being left out on purpose.
Billy tries to blackmail Adam, again, threatening to expose Ashland in an article if Adam and Victor don’t back off. Adam is unphased. Rey picked up that Billy has something on Adam and he confronted Billy and Lily about it. They caved and told Rey what was going on. Rey warned Billy that blackmailing Adam is a crime. The article about Ashland wound up getting published and Billy & Lily were confused as to how. It appeared that Adam was behind it.
The Bold & The Beautiful
Hope insisted that she and Deacon have a chance at a father-daughter relationship. Brooke finally agreed to not stand in their way. However, Ridge & Steffy are against it. Deacon has never gotten over Brooke.
Ridge instructed Justin to keep tabs on Deacon & Sheila.
Finn approached Sheila and wants to know who his biological father is. Will Sheila keep her promise to Jack?
Days Of Our Lives
Rafe didn’t believe Ava that Charlie killed the man in his kitchen, but after Tripp confirmed that he saw Charlie too, Rafe second-guessed himself. Ava agrees to plea guilty in self-defense and she is let go.
Nicole confided in Chloe that she slept with Rafe. Chloe later tells Brady about it while Phillip overhears and thinks they are talking about themselves.
Susan visits Ben and Ciara and tells them that their baby is in danger.
Theo ran into Ben & Ciara and learned that they are expecting a baby.
Lani let it slip to Chanel that Paulina was going to ask her [Lani] be her matron of honor.
Trask agreed to drop the charges against Jake if he testifies against Philip.
Xander tried to convince Jack to forgive Gwen while Gwen tries to get Xander’s money back.
John & Susan try to fight off the Devil at the crypt and instead the devil jumps into Susan. The devil decides it wants to interfere with John and Marlena’s relationship and so it takes on Kristen’s form [Eileen Davidson].
