On “Days Of Our Lives” this past week, the Brady-Black family banded together to perform an exorcism on Marlena and boy did Deidre Hall deliver (as always)! The Devil as Marlena tried to fight off John, was almost successful in blackmailing Lucas, and attempted to use temptation via Kristen on Eric to break free. Later on, the whole family (John, Eric, Sami, Belle, Brady, Allie, and Johnny) all joined in to help save Marlena. Hall was dedicated to her spot-on acting choices during the exorcism such as having to thrash around on the bed as Marlena was doused with holy water. Her delivery of one liners was top notch and boy did she get in some great ones! In reference to Lucas and Sami “Those two aren’t exactly the God squad, are they?” and “The fallen priest and the boozy brother” in reference to Eric and Brady were stand out lines, but arguably the best one was in reference to Belle and Sami “Oh my! It’s the professional slut defending the junior slut”. The family was able to save Marlena and there were touching flashbacks of each family member with Marlena as her soul was freed from The Devil. What a treat to see those as well as the flashbacks from the original exorcism; Hall is just as spectacular now as she was then. When Marlena came to, she had a touching reunion with her family and Hall quickly transitioned from the snarky, scheming Devil to the nurturing, loving Marlena. This storyline has been such a treat to fans to see Hall showcase her many talents and fans are excited to see what happens next as Marlena will have to come to terms with what has happened while she was possessed as the Devil.
Days Of Our Lives
EJ tells Nicole that he thinks Chad or Rafe is the one framing him for Sami’s kidnapping. Nicole throws out Lucas’ name as a possibility and EJ is then convinced it’s him as it would make sense considering he’s always been in love with Sami. EJ is released from the police station and tries to reason with Sami. Nicole shows up and Sami lets her know that EJ chose her over Nicole. Nicole leaves. Lucas breaks into Chad and EJ’s office with the intention of fabricating evidence to prove EJ is the one who kidnapped Sami. Chad catches him in the act, but lets him slide as he would benefit from EJ being found guilty; he’d get to be the sole CEO of the company. And that’s what happens when the fabricated evidence comes to light. Sami is convinced it must be true and she leaves EJ. She runs into Lucas and tells him that she wants to be with him; they kiss at midnight on New Year’s Eve.
Ava overhears Chloe and Brady discuss Nicole and Rafe’s one night stand and she later on cuts up Duke, the teddy bear that Rafe and Nicole share.
Johnny and Chanel tell Tripp and Allie that they got married in Italy. Allie does not approve and lets them know she thinks they made a big mistake. She’s worried Johnny will hurt Chanel based on his previous dating history. Johnny accuses Allie of being jealous and that she wants Chanel for herself. On New Year’s Eve, Allie tries to make amends with Johnny and Chanel on New Year’s Eve; she suggest they celebrate with her and Tripp. As Allie, Tripp, and Chanel wait on Johnny, fans see that the Devil has now possessed him.
Steve dressed up as Santa for the kids at the hospital. He later on gives Kayla a piece of jewelry to compliment one he gave her on their honeymoon and fans got to see a flashback of those scenes.
Maggie tries to convince Jack to make amends with Gwen and Xander. She feels bad that Sarah left Xander with no explanation and she feels like the least she can do to make up for it is to help mend Xander and Jack’s friendship. Maggie later tries to contact Sarah and is unsuccessful.
General Hospital
Scott gets Willow to admit on the stand that Sonny and Nina were in a relationship when they were in Nixon Falls. The judge calls Sonny back on the stand and Sonny says he doesn’t consider himself a victim. The judge rules to drop the charges against Nina. Nina is upset with Scott for exposing her relationship with Sonny even though it helped set her free. Carly was stunned and hurt to learn of the news in the courtroom. Sonny tries to explain why he didn’t tell her sooner. When Carly asks him if he still has feelings for Nina, he dodges her questions. Carly tells him she needs time and to not come home.
Michael thinks Nina used Willow and convinces Willow of the same. They confront Nina after the hearing and Nina denies it; that she didn’t tell Scott about her relationship with Sonny and that she doesn’t even know how he found out. Michael doesn’t believe her. Willow is upset she was put in that situation at all and Nina reminds her that she could have lied on the stand and that Willow has to deal with the consequences of telling the truth. Back at the Corinthos house, Carly is upset with Willow for not telling her about Sonny and Nina as soon as she found out. She later apologizes for lashing out at her. Still upset, she cries out for Jason and she goes to the bridge where she runs into Drew.
Dante finds Sonny drinking at Charlie’s. Sonny tries to explain the complexity of his relationship with Nina. He says that a small part of him is Mike and that Nina has Mike’s heart, but that he also loves Carly. Dante is concerned Sonny will drive home drunk so he takes his car keys from him. Nina later runs into Sonny and offers to drive him wherever he’d like to go.
Martin tells Valentin about him and Lucy. Valentin tells him he sees it as a conflict of interest since Martin is his lawyer and he works with Lucy so he tells Martin he has to choose between pursuing a relationship with Lucy or keeping him as a client. Lucy tells Maxie of her and Martin’s night together. Martin and Lucy try to spend New Year’s Eve together at the Savoy where Martin tells Lucy about his dilemma. Valentin shows up with Anna and Maxie helps Martin and Lucy leave so Valentin doesn’t spot them together.
BLQ has a fantasy dream about her and Chase hooking up. Ned tells BLQ that she and Chase should come up with a legal agreement when it comes to Bailey.
Marshall asks Epiphany to join his band and she’s disappointed that he didn’t ask her out on a date. He tells her he’s not looking to date anyone at the moment. Marshall runs into TJ and Shawn at The Invader and he confronts Shawn; blaming him for Tommy’s death. Shawn tries to help him understand that Tommy was not in his right mind and attacked him first; that Shawn killed Tommy in self-defense. TJ tells Marshall that he has been able to forgive Shawn/he doesn’t blame him and that Marshall should try to do the same. Curtis tries to get answers about Marshall from Stella and when that doesn’t work, he goes straight to Marshall who still doesn’t give him anything to go on.
Olivia and Ned get confirmation from the doctor that Leo has autism. They seek answers regarding his quality of life and how they can help him navigate independence and meaningful relationships.
Liesel tells Britt that her gift to her was setting her up on a dating service for professionals; she wants her daughter to try to move on from Jason. She later tells her about Nina falling for Sonny in Nixon Falls. Nina later confronts Liesel that she’s upset with her for telling Scott about her and Sonny since he used it to get her free; she didn’t want to hurt Sonny or his family in the process.
Alexis takes a college lecture with Josslyn and Spencer. The professor tries to convince Alexis that she should be an adjunct professor.
Drew spends some quality time with Scout and Sam on New Year’s Eve. Dante later joins Sam.
Curtis and Portia make love.
Anna and Valentin spend New Year’s Eve at the Savoy.
Finn and Elizabeth spend New Year’s Eve at her home with Cameron, Aiden, and Violet. Liz takes off her wedding ring and later realizes it’s missing and deduces it fell down the kitchen sink. Finn gets it back for her and she keeps the ring off. Josslyn later stops by to surprise Cameron in time to kiss him at midnight during the fireworks.
The Bold & The Beautiful
Brooke orders a non-alcoholic champagne for New Year’s Eve. She runs into Sheila and is upset to realize that she has been spending time with Deacon. She doesn’t want Sheila around anyone in the family and tells her that she doesn’t want her around Finn and Hayes. Upset, Sheila has the non-alcoholic champagne switched out for a real one. Brooke gets drunk during the holiday celebration with Deacon, Hope, Liam, and their kids, but they don’t seem to notice. She’s anticipating Ridge coming home in time to celebrate with her, but he breaks the news he’s not able to make it. She’s disappointed. The family is gone and Deacon returns for his phone. He overhears that Brooke will be alone and offers to spend time with her. Brooke continues to drink and he joins her. He tells her he never stopped loving her and they kiss. Douglas remembers he left his toy at Brooke’s and Liam tells him they’ll get it tomorrow. Douglas doesn’t want to wait, so he sneaks out to Brooke’s. He notices Brooke kissing a man with a Santa hat on, but the face is covered by the hat.
Sheila stops by to visit Taylor to thank her for assisting with her seeing her son and grandson for Christmas Eve and gives her a cactus as a gift. She brings it with her to Steffy’s home where later on Steffy’s daughter pricks herself when she touches the cactus. Steffy uses that as another way to remind them all that they shouldn’t allow Sheila in their lives. Steffy and Thomas hope that Taylor and Ridge will reunite.
Quinn lets it slip to Carter that Zende plans on proposing to Paris. Carter texts her to warn her just in time. Paris tells Zende that she enjoys being single and independent and that she’s not ready for marriage yet. Zende gets the hint and decides to not pop the question. Paris later thanks Carter for telling her so she was able to tell Zende before he proposed so she wouldn’t have to reject his proposal. She and Carter kiss.
The Young & The Restless
Chelsea and Abby reconnect as Chance and Adam do the same. Chelsea tells Chloe that the only way she’ll be fine working for Newman Fashion is if it’s made clear that Chelsea is Sally’s boss.
Elena tells Sharon that she is moving in with Nate. Later on, Sharon offers the apartment to Tessa and Mariah who accept. They tell Sharon their plans about adopting a baby. Noah arrives to share the final product of the art concept for Tessa’s album. While they discuss it, Mariah discusses the adoption with Sharon who voices her concerns that the adoption process is not easy. Noah lets it slip in an alluded way that he’s interested in Tessa and she catches on. Before she can say anything, Mariah interrupts them.
Nate convinces Devon to tell Chance and Abby that he wants a bigger role in Dominic’s life and to make legal changes to reflect and protect that. He does so and it catches them off guard. While Chance appears to be slightly open to the idea, Abby is offended by the suggestion. She thinks Devon wants to have shared custody of the baby and she thinks it only came up now after she had left the baby with Devon when she went to search for Chance. She confronts him and Devon denies it.
Victoria confronts Billy who is drinking at Society, but finds out he has been faking it. Worried that the gig is up, Billy and Lily plead with Victoria to keep it a secret. Victoria is willing to do so…for a price. She wants Billy to go after Adam financially so that it leaves the company in a vulnerable position for her to take it over. Billy claims he was not interested in a company battle, but rather it was to save his reputation. However, Billy tells her if she’s going to take over the company, he wants her to have him run it. Victoria doesn’t think Billy is capable of doing so. Lily is frustrated that Billy is playing into Victoria’s hands. Victoria fills in Ashland on the plan. Ashland shares with her that his treatment is working.
Nick tells Phyllis he is going to visit Summer in Italy. Lauren tells Phyllis that Jack is in New York and tries to encourage her to make plans with him for New Year’s. However, since Jack will be in NY for a while, Phyllis agrees to spend New Year’s with Lauren, Michael, Kevin, and Chloe. Chloe invites Sally to join them, but Sally tells her she already has plans. Chloe assumes it’s with Adam. She later lets it slip to Chelsea who gets jealous. She calls Adam over and makes it clear she wants them to get back together. Chloe voices her concerns about Chelsea, Sally, and Adam to Kevin and gets an idea that she should try to talk to Adam about staying away from both women.
