General Hospital Should Give Joshua Benard A Contract! Learn More Here >>>
In 2018 Joshua Benard appeared on General Hospital in the role of 'young Sonny'. It was a flashback to the childhood of Sonny Corinthos who is played on the show by Joshua's real-life father, Maurice Benard.
Joshua received a lot of positive reviews for his portrayal of 'young Sonny' and went on to appear in the short Boys of a Certain Age and on an episode of Station 19. He is also set to appear in an HBO project premiering this summer.
General Hospital viewers were surprised to see Joshua show up on the soap this week, in a different role this time but by the end of the episode, many were calling for the younger Benard to be put on contract with the show! We here at Soap Opera News agree with them!
Joshua played Adam, a classmate of Josslyn Jacks, played by Eden McCoy. Josslyn was recently traumatized by Esme secretly recording Joss' first time making love with her boyfriend, Cameron and sending it viral throughout the PCU campus. Esme is portrayed by Avery Pohl and William Lipton plays Cameron Webber.
In their scenes this week Adam showed up at Charlie's to join Josslyn for a study session but it quickly turned sour when he harassed her about the sex tape. She stood up for herself and sent him packing but his parting words as he stormed out shook her, "You're pretty touchy for someone with a sex tape!"
Yes, Adam is a creep and we wouldn't have hated Joss giving him the slap he so richly deserved but his portrayer's delivery was sublime and made you want to see if there was more to Adam than just his frat boy mentality. Not to mention his off-the-charts chemistry with Eden McCoy!
Benard himself is ready and in the wait to join the show. He said, “I really hope, one day, to get to do a scene with my dad on the show. That’s the goal. So… get me back on the show!”
After the episode aired many fans took to social media to compliment the young actor and his fan engagement was fun-loving and entertaining! He even recorded a song for his fans and "haters" that his father posted to Twitter and Instagram. You can watch it below. His amazing voice and musical talent just endear him to us even more!
General Hospital should run, don't walk, to sign this amazing young talent to a contract! He is just the shot in the arm the GH 'teen scene' needs and while Adam didn't really get off on the right foot, we have no doubt that his portrayer can show us layers and redeem-ability if given the chance!
