Here is the best daytime soap opera of 2022. Find out which one we crowned as the top soap here--->>
Finally! It's here, the time that we name the best daytime soap opera for 2022. How eventful this soap opera year has been? We are grateful to the passionate soap authors who provided us with some enticing plot lines to watch and to the actors who faithfully portrayed the characters. The year 2022 was filled with intense, intriguing and tantalizing storylines. So, what soap opera did we name the greatest for 2022? See below!
The Bold and the Beautiful:
The Bold and the Beautiful finally went back to its roots and gave us a fashion show. Sadly, it was just a fashion show and not much to talk about. Luckily, the show kept us on the edge of our seats with the constant story twists, dramatic cliffhangers and one of the greatest villains of all time, the one and only, Sheila Carter. What was our best moment for the show this year? Well, that would be the entire story surrounding Finn's "death" and Steffy's shooting. They gave us a dramatic and emotional reunion for Finn and Steffy in Monaco. The location shoots were so fitting this year, it was another great for the soap. Another big highlight scene of the year was Brooke and Taylor dumping Ridge and choosing themselves. How long have viewers been waiting for this moment? Also, we sadly lost one of the greatest dynamic duos of this era when Rena Sofer left the soap as Quinn Fuller and the pairing of "Quarter" was no more. Our main displeasure with this soap is the constant repetitive dialogue and reuse of story plots but in the end, it was a good year for B&B.
The Young and the Restless:
It was a crazy year filled with some shocking shake-ups, returns, drama and more. The writers of this CBS daytime drama gave us much to watch and much to keep us entertained week after week. Finally, Genoa City was filled with twists and turns again that were worth tuning in for but our favorite storyline and scene of the year for this show would definitely be Chelsea's suicide attempt and Billy coming to her rescue. It will go down on record as one of the most touching and powerful scenes of the decade. We also had a Diane-filled year with the awesome talent of Susan Walters and the trio; Phyllis, Ashley and Nikki trying to get her out of town. We had Ashland Locke and then we got Jeremy Stark. We had big returns that also included; Michael Graziadei as Daniel Romalotti and Michael Damian as Danny. We had newbies like Zuleyka Silver as Audra, Kelsey Wang as Allie and most of all Trevor St. John returned to daytime television as a recast Tucker McCall. All in all, we had much to pay attention to from the make-ups to break-ups and the love in the afternoon with a love triangle between Nick, Sally and Adam. Then we had one of the most heated and intense sex scenes of the year with Abby and Devon. But let's not forget we lost a lot of the "young" and got most of the restless so sadly our grading for this soap dropped because of that and the fact that known and beloved sets were either forgotten or just no more.
Days of Our Lives:
Of course, our favorite moment would probably go to John, Roman, and Steve against Orpheus. The possession storyline finally concluded this year but what we love most about this storyline was the fact that we got to see some of the younger generation's take on being possessed. The show didn't forget to include the soapy drama; there were secrets, love in the afternoon, affairs, kidnappings, and so much more. Paulina's ex came to town, was revealed to be Lani's biological father, caused some drama and then was shot to death, can drama get any better than that? Robert Scott Wilson vacated as Ben Weston and returned as Alex Kiriakis in less than a month, and had more sexual action than Ben as the show aired its first threesome. We had partner swapping, mask affairs, cheating exes and more. Whoever said that a former priest couldn't have some fun? Eric Brady moved from Jada to Nicole to Sloan in less than a month. Then we had a failed double wedding when Gwen and Leo's secrets were revealed at their double wedding to Xander and Craig. And with villains like Kristen DiMera, Jan Spears and Clyde Weston, we had much to look forward to. Then we had the big move from network television to streaming when Days headed over exclusively to Peacock in September and the best is still yet to come. Days was chosen as our top soap in 2021.
General Hospital:
We saved the best for last! Our crown for the best daytime soap opera of 2022 goes to none other than General Hospital. A big thumbs up to the writing crew for their hard work this year. Shocking exits, shake-ups, love triangles, and more happened this year on the ABC soap opera. Vets were being used once again and not just being used but were front and center. When you have talents like Finola Hughes (Anna), Lynn Herring (Lucy), James Patrick Stuart (Valentin), Tristan Rogers (Robert), Maura West (Ava) and more you most definitely cannot fail. We were probably most in love with the story of Anna and Valentin and boy did these two have one of the most intensified love scenes of the century? There was the Hook, there was Britt's Huntington's disease story, Anna being framed for Lucy's "death" and going on the run with Valentin, revenge porn, Carly walking in on Sonny and Nina hitting the sheets, Liz's past revisited, Trina's fight to prove her innocence and more. There was a mixture of storylines, the use of important sets, location shoots, affairs like; Josslyn and Dex, Esme and Nikolas, and more. The entire cast and crew were superb this year. It's no wonder we had to select this show as the best for 2022!
