Here's the story behind Brad and Britt's duet on General Hospital---->>>
It was a party like no other when Britt Westbourne held her first-ever birthday bash this week on General Hospital. The party was attended by many but the greatest highlight of the event was Britt's duet with her best friend Brad Cooper (Parry Shen). The duo sang the hit song, I Knew You Were Waiting which was originally recorded by George Michael and Aretha Franklin. The hit song was released in 1987. The song was a number-one hit in the United States and the United Kingdom. Billboard listed "I Knew You Were Waiting (for Me)" as Franklin's all-time biggest Hot 100 single. The song was Franklin's biggest hit on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart, reaching number two. The song was written by Simon Climie and Dennis Morgan and produced by Narada Michael Walden. Franklin and Michael won a 1987 Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for "I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)"
Parry Shen revealed, "We got the rights to the song on a Thursday, laid down our vocals in the recording studio 4 days later, and then sang to our track 3 days later when filming the episode. So a week from start to finish. I screenshot the text I sent to Kelly, when I found out she was singing Aretha’s part — but I knew she could do it from hearing her previously sing a tiny bit during our signing. Our mics during the taping were live to record any additional laughter or improvisations, but our own track kept us in time and was also there to ‘assist’ if/when we ran out of breath (you forget how different it is to sing AND dance!) I knew I wanted to do a 360 degree mic twirl & practiced at home until I nailed it. But then I discovered the mics we were using on the show were longer and much heavier and impossible to do a 360 flip. So I cheated. When the vocals went over to Kelly, I did a 180 flip and when the vocals came back to me, I did another 180 flip. Kin Shriner took notice afterwards and said, “When I saw you trying to flip the mic, I was thinking, ‘Yeah, good luck with that!’ But then you did it!!” So I revealed my secret to him — and delighted that someone noticed!"
He closed his post by showing gratitude to the fans and those who made the duet happen. "Thank you for all the positive comments - what a great moment to showcase Brad & Britt’s friendship in the show, huh? Thank you to the writers, producers and Frank Valentini for making it happen!"
