Performer of the Week
Jon Lindstrom has been nominated for 2 daytime Emmys for his work on General Hospital and the fact that he hasn’t won one yet is a crime. This week was a perfect example of the mastery of his craft in his performances as both psychopath Ryan Chamberlin and his psychiatrist twin brother, Kevin Collins. Ryan escaped from the mental facility that had been holding him with his ex-lover Heather Webber (Alley Mills) and pregnant daughter Esme Prince (Avery Pohl) in tow. His deranged belief that they would be a happy family as soon as he tied up his “loose ends” in Port Charles was so convincing that we almost believed it could happen. Of course, those loose ends turned out to be the objects of his obsession with Ava Jerome (Maura West) and Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner). He just couldn’t leave town without one final goodbye, and with Ryan final, means final. His crazy was on full display throughout the week as he fought with all of the women in his life at the same time, terrorizing them all while claiming it was out of love. The comedy added by his banter with Heather elevated the scenes even more while adding an additional level of crazy to the situation. Lindstrom hit every note and when he told Esme she could trust him, we understood why she felt she couldn’t but also kinda she was the one person he truly did love, the one person he just might not kill if she upset him. His disbelief at Ava rejecting his attempts to reconcile after she confessed to killing her husband because of what Ryan had done was breathtaking and you felt the delusional betrayal he felt because of Jon’s amazing acting. After Ryan had been killed, his twin had to be sure and requested to see him. Kevin’s torn heart when it came to his brother was played masterfully by Jon as he looked at his brother’s body and prayed that he was finally at peace, almost regretful for the sense of relief he was feeling in the moment. Lindstrom’s ability to shift between these two wildly different characters is only one of the reasons we have chosen him as our Performer of the Week! Congratulations sir, it is more than doubly deserved!
Days of Our Lives
This week in Salem, Brady grew suspicious of Sloan and shared his suspicions with Eric. Eric pretended to be Sloan's employee and got Dr. Rolf out so that he and his brother could have him deprogram Stefan. Kate spoke to Paulina from an urn. She had an important message for Roman but their connection got distorted before she could tell her. The ladies work up and were being held at a facility by Megan Hathaway. Steve and John went in search of answers at the DiMera mansion and spoke to Tony and Anna. Allie and Chanel shared a bittersweet goodbye as Allie left for New Zealand. Johnny found a vile in the DiMera office and took it to his father who realized that he was drugged by Stefan and so was Nicole. Wei Chin returned to Salem and paid Li a visit. Li got Gabi to sign his agreement and put on back the wedding ring.
General Hospital
It was one hot week in Port Charles. Spoon Island had the most drama. Ryan and Heather stirred up a lot of trouble there. Austin got hooked but survived and went to the hospital for medical attention. Ava shot Ryan but it was Mac who ultimately finished him off. Heather dropped bombshell after bombshell revealing that she is the hook, Ryan is Esme's father and she is her mother. Esme gave birth to her baby Ace. Spencer and Trina shared their first kiss. Curtis confided in his father after his confrontation with Portia. Portia was also confronted by Taggert. Sasha faced off with Heather and promised to see to it that she was brought to justice. Heather, in turn, decided to give a full confession to the cops.
The Bold and the Beautiful
Dollar Bill Spencer made Sheila Carter a very huge promise. She was keeping a secret from him and told him she misses someone very bad. When he questioned her, she told him it was Finn. Li paid her son a visit and got all details about Douglas' guardianship hearing. He also vowed to never let Sheila anywhere near him or his family. Brooke took a big step after Hollis flirted with her at Il Giardino. The two had their first date and they kissed but Brooke finally realized she wasn't quite ready to take that step. Her good friend Taylor opted to spend the night with her while they eat popcorn and watch movies. Hope was still struggling to come to terms with Douglas' decision. Taylor intervened between her children and encouraged them to work things in a better way.
The Young and the Restless
Heather and Lucy left Genoa City. Nate learned that his cousins were headed to court for a legal battle. Tucker was shocked to learn that Ashley bought his debt. He went to Victoria and backed out of their deal. Sally learned that Adam was the father of her baby. She shared the news with Adam but told him that it doesn't change anything - she and Nick will still be together. Billy revealed his true feelings for Chelsea to Jack who made him a huge offer. Summer and Kyle were back on track and she encouraged him never to lie to her again.
