On today’s General Hospital recap for March 16, 2023: Nina gets a reality check, Chase offers comfort, Spencer's anger builds, Trina explains her strategy, and Obrecht voices her regret.
Esme is surprised to see Trina at Spring Ridge. She tells her that she knows Trina is one of the people she hurt. Trina asks her if she remembers. Esme tells her that she doesn't and asks her why she hated Trina so much. Esme doesn't know if she's guilty or not but tells her about what everyone says about the person she was before the memory loss and that if she did all of those things then she was as bad as they say. She tells Trina that she doesn't feel that way anymore and doesn't want to hurt anyone, she just wants to raise her son. Trina calls him Spencer's baby brother and Esme tells her that Ace is her baby and Spencer can't have him.
Esme wants to know if Spencer sent her. Trina tells her that Spencer doesn't know she's there but she wanted to check on the baby. She tells Esme she's lucky that Spring Ridge lets her have the baby with her but asks if it's the best thing for Ace. Esme explains how much she loves him and says that the best thing for Ace is to stay with her.
Esme apologizes for everything she did to Trina but adds that it doesn't seem fair for her to go to jail for something she doesn't even remember doing. She tells Trina that her lawyer thinks that she's not to blame because of Ryan's influence. Trina fire back that she wasn't forced to drug her or to record Joss and Cam having sex. Esme asks if she knows that for sure. She asks Trina how they can ever know the truth with Ryan dead. Trina admits that it's complicated since Esme has amnesia. Esme tells her that it's time for the baby's nap. Before Trina leaves Esme asks her if she passed the test. Trina doesn't know what she means so Esme asks if she came to find out if Esme was telling the truth. Trina tells her that she's always been an excellent liar and that she came to judge for herself. Esme says that she's not lying about losing her memory and doesn't think she'll ever get it back.
Maxie is annoyed with Carly playing with the baby during their meeting but Willow tells Maxie she won't win this one and Maxie suggests they take a break.
Chase arrives and tells Brook Lynn that he's there to see Michael, Willow, and the baby. They talk about when they were taking care of Bailey together. Maxie interrupts them and Chase goes into the parlor. Maxie asks Brook Lynn what's going on with her and Chase and tells her to be honest with him.
Chase tells Michael and Willow how happy he is for them and Willow talks about how lucky she feels. She tells him that they should know today if Liesel is approved as her donor. After Chase leaves Willow lays down for a nap and Carly tries to get Michael to talk about how he's doing. He confides in her about his feelings and tells her that he can't lose Willow.
When Chase comes out of the parlor, Maxie leaves them alone. Brook Lynn tells him that she wants him. She covers by telling him that she wants him to perform with Blaze at the Nurse's Ball. They talk about Willow and he takes her hand to comfort her. As he's leaving he promises to talk to Blaze about the Nurse's Ball.
Cam tells Joss that being with Dex will put her in a life she hates. She tells him Dex is different and that she wants him to be happy and not worry about her. He tells Joss he has to get back to work and she asks if they're ok. He tells her that they are and says he just wants her to be happy. She says she wants the same for him. Trina calls her and tells her that she has something important to talk to them all about and asks them to meet her at Sonny's.
Spencer expresses his displeasure about Dex staying with them but Sonny shuts him down. Spencer tells him how he's upset that Cam is leaving and thinks that Joss dumped Cam to get with Dex. Sonny tells them that's between Joss and Dex and Spencer rails about the other things he's upset about. Sonny assures him that Diane will get him custody of Ace and tells him to lay off of Dex before leaving to see Nina. Dex comes out and asks where Sonny is. Spencer refuses to tell him. He gets up and Dex warns him he won't get to sucker punch him again. Spencer tells him that he promised Sonny he'd play nice and asks Dex why he's lying to his uncle about Joss. He accuses him of moving in on Joss right after she broke up with Cam and sneaking around with her. They are interrupted by a knock on the door. Dex opens it and is surprised to see Joss and Cam on the other side.
Joss notices that Dex is injured but doesn't ask about it. Spencer asks Dex to give them privacy and tells them Dex is living there now. Joss changes the subject just as Trina arrives and tells them that she went to go see Esme. Trina tells them that she wants to ask the DA to drop the charges against Esme. She explains to them that if Esme is tried now she has a good chance of being found not guilty because of the amnesia and then can never be tried again if she gets her memory back. She wants the charges to stay pending just in case the old Esme returns and also wants Ace out of the prison. They see her point and agree to ask Diane to help them get the DA to not prosecute. Trina tells Spencer that she doesn't think Esme is a threat to anyone right now and he hopes that she's right.
Gregory tells Alexis that he just lost his footing. He tells her he hasn't been drinking but she's still suspicious because he's slurring his words. He tells her that he's not drunk and she presses him to tell her what is going on. She offers to drive him to his appointment. He's upset that she still thinks he's drunk and is demanding his keys. Gregory gets agitated and she tries to defuse the situation but he gives her the keys and tells her to leave them with the hotel concierge because he never wants to see her again.
Alexis goes back to Sam and tells her what happened with Gregory. They talk about Alexis's fears that he's an addict. Alexis says that he's furious with her and accused her of projecting her alcoholism on everybody else. She wonders if she went too far but still feels something is wrong. Sam talks to the bartender and tells Alexis that Gregory wasn't served. Alexis isn't convinced that he's not an addict.
Liesel tells Nina that she hasn't heard back from the doctor yet. Nina's concerned for Willow and frustrated by the delay. Liesel explains that they have to be thorough for Willow's sake and shares with her how hard it was to handle Britt's illness. Scott tries to call Liesel but she ignores the call and explains to Nina why she can't forgive him. Nina tries to encourage her to let Scott help her through everything but Liesel refuses. Sonny gets there and Nina asks why he has two guards with him. He tells her that they'll talk about it later. Liesel gets a call from the hospital and afterward tells them that she can donate but that there's a problem. After Liesel leaves Sonny comforts Nina and tells her to stay positive, that it's just a delay until the medication that Liesel is on is out of her system. Nina doesn't think Willow can afford to wait.
Liesel goes to the Quartermaine's and tells Willow, Michael, and Carly that the transplant has to be put on hold. Willow understands and she tells them that Sonny and Nina were with her when she found out so they already know. Willow tells her that she agreed to keep Nina in the loop about her health. She asks Carly to fill everyone else in on what's going on. Once they are alone she tells Michael that she's keeping the faith.
Nina wishes that she could talk to Willow but promises Sonny she won't do it because she doesn't want to upset her. Sonny offers to make her something to eat but she wants to talk about the extra guards he has with him. He tells her that there was an incident and he's fine but adding extra security. She wants to know what happened but he reminds her that she didn't want to know anything about his business. She says she's not sure she still feels the same way.
After she puts the baby down for his nap, Esme goes back into the common room and a guard gives her a letter. She's horrified when she sees it's from Heather. She eventually opens it and starts to read.
