On today’s General Hospital recap for March 23, 2023: Maxie makes Cody an offer, Sasha surprises Gladys, Alexis is shaken, Marshall encourages Portia, and Spencer reassures Trina.
Gregory demands to know why Alexis went against his wishes and told Finn what was going on. She tells him that she couldn't tell Finn what was going on since she doesn't know herself but he is her friend and she's worried about him. He tells her she doesn't know that there is anything to worry about and he wants to keep it that way. She replies that she can't. She's his friend and she has to try to help him. He tells her to stop prying and she shoots back that if she hadn't pried then she wouldn't have known he was lying to her. He tells her emphatically that he doesn't want any help. She tries to explain to him why she thinks he has a drinking problem.
Gregory tells her again that he doesn't have a drinking problem. She asks him why he was fired and he tells her that he wasn't fired, he quit. He admits to her that he's sick but won't go into detail. He admits that Finn doesn't know and wants it to stay that way. Alexis promises that he can trust her and that whatever he says to her will not leave the room. He tells her that he hopes she means that before leaving.
Maxie is talking to Sasha and Gladys about the planning for the Nurse's Ball when Cody comes in. Sasha tries to introduce them but he says that he met Gladys at The Savoy. Maxie wants to know what Gladys was doing at The Savoy. Gladys says she was just stopping in. Cody covers for her and says they were both there for "lady's night". Maxie has a question for Cody and drags him outside so they can talk. Gladys wants to leave but Sasha stops her. She suggests that they go to the Nurse's Ball together and offers to buy Gladys a gown. Sasha also tells her that she wants to give her a salary as her conservator.
Outside Maxie tries to convince Cody to join in with Magic Milo and the Magic Wands for the Nurse's Ball. He surprises her by quickly agreeing to do it. When they go back inside, Sasha tells them that she and Gladys are going to the Nurse's Ball together. Maxie tells them about Cody agreeing to join the strip show at the Ball and takes Gladys to another table to talk about her dress. Once there she talks to Gladys about why she likes Cody and wonders if something is going on with Cody and Sasha. Gladys says she hopes not as she gets a text from Selina Wu asking if she wants to play poker tonight.
Sasha tells Cody that she's going to pay Gladys a salary and he wonders if that's a good idea. He warns her to trust but verify.
Portia is thinking about her conversation with Curtis. She runs into Marshall as she gets off the elevator. He is surprised that Curtis didn't tell her about his appointment. Marshall is upset by the distance between Portia and Curtis and asks Portia if they can go someplace to talk. He credits her with him seeking help in the first place.
Marshall tells Portia about not having the genetic markers for schizophrenia and wonders if he was misdiagnosed. He also says that she's family and he trusts her medical opinion. Portia tells him that they need to know more and suggests he contacts the original doctor that diagnosed him. After she leaves he calls Stella and asks if she has his old medical records.
Trina is not happy when Esme tells her that she and Ace are living at Laura's now at Laura's invitation. Trina apologizes to Laura for just showing up but Laura tells her that she's always welcome there. Trina asks Spencer if he's going back to Sonny's and he tells her that he is going to be staying with Laura as well in case the baby needs him. Esme talks about why she suggested that she and Ace stay there and Trina tells her that she is very lucky to have Laura care for her and the baby. Laura says that they all want what's best for Ace and Spencer says that's all that matters.
Trina says she has to go and Spencer offers to walk her out as Esme and Laura go to put Ace to bed. He apologizes to Trina for springing it on her. She tells him that she's happy that he and Esme get to raise the baby together and he tells her that it's the last thing he wants but if she hadn't moved in then he would have lost the baby for good. Trina understands that moving Esme in with them was his only chance to keep the baby close.
Trina tells Spencer she believes Esme's amnesia is real but worries that she may still be a bad person and may even be worse than she was before. Spencer tells her that he is going to watch her closely and won't be fooled by her again. He tells her that everything between him and Esme was fake and that what he has with Trina is the real thing.
Esme and Laura talk about her parents. Laura tells her that she can make sure that Ace has a better upbringing than she did. Esme tells her that she wants to do right by Ace and admits that Heather warned her not to trust Laura or Spencer. Laura tells her that Heather is not someone she should take advice from. The baby wakes up and Laura offers to go check on him. Laura carries the baby out to Esme and she brings him to check on what's keeping Spencer. When she goes into the hall she interrupts Spencer and Trina about to kiss. Spencer tells Esme that Trina was telling him about the daycare at PCU in case he wants to take summer classes. Esme tells him that he doesn't have to worry about it since she will be taking care of her son. She goes back inside and he says goodnight to Trina and follows her in.
Curtis warns Jordan that he plans on getting drunk and she may want to leave while she can but she orders herself a drink and sits down. She asks him why he is paying to drink at Charlie's when he owns his own nightclub. He replies that there are too many things to interrupt him there and he wants to just drink. He tells her about his conversation with Trina and agrees with Jordan that it was a good start until Portia showed up. She tells him that she doesn't want him and Portia to end up like they did and encourages him to forgive her.
Curtis thinks that if he forgives Portia when he couldn't forgive Jordan he would be a hypocrite. He asks how she could be ok with that when he ended their marriage for a smaller lie. She reminds him that it wasn't her choice to end their marriage. Curtis asks why she didn't fight for their marriage. She explains that she fought as hard as she could and he asks if they would still be together if he hadn't pushed her away. She admits they would. They are about to kiss when they are interrupted by an officer telling Jordan that her car is waiting. After she leaves Curtis looks at his wedding ring.
Finn and Terry try to reassure Liz that she will be ok no matter what the ethics committee decides. A board member comes out and tells Liz they have decided to take no disciplinary action against her. He tells her that the board thinks she may have said Esme and her baby's life and compliments her outstanding record as a nurse at GH. He tells her that she's an asset to the hospital and wishes her luck before leaving. Liz runs over to Finn and hugs him tightly in relief and happiness. She thanks him for standing by her side and he promises he always will.
Liz sends Epiphany a text as Finn gets off the elevator with Violet. She tells Liz that they are going to dinner and asks her to come with them. Liz agrees and Violet asks if the boys can come too. They agree to invite them and they all leave hand in hand.
